    GUIDELINES FOR PROCEEDINGS MANUSCRIPTS TO BE

    SUBMITTED TO THE ACTION RESEARCH REPORT

    ABSTRACT

    This document is a guideline to authors of papers to be published in the Action Research

    report 2012 for Cohort 3 PISMP science trainee teachers. Authors are required to write their

    papers according to these guidelines. This document itself is written using the desired

    format. The length is limited to 4-5 pages per author, including graphs, pictures, reference

    list and so on. The length of the abstract text should be less than 300 words.

    1. INTRODUCTION

    The fontfor the paper is Times New Roman. The titleof the paper is 16 points and boldface.

    The title is centred and all letters are capitals. After one blank line the name(s) of the

    author(s) is/are printed. The name of the institute or company is printed directly below it. If

    the authors are from more than one institute, all the names of the institutes should appear

    sequentially as shown in the above example. A number in superscript should be put to relate

    the authors to the affiliations. The size of the font of the authors names and their affiliations

    is 14 points and centred. Full information of the corresponding author, name, affiliation,

    postal and e-mail addresses are added at the end of the document, after references.

    After two blank lines the abstract follows. The layout of the abstract and subsequentparagraphs are uniform and as follows. The font is Times New Roman 12 points. The section

    title is in boldface and all capitals. The title starts with a number, followed by a period and

    one space, and then the text. The Abstract and References have no paragraph number. We

    strongly recommend not using the feature of automated numbering of the word processing

    software. After a blank line, the body text begins. No paragraph indent should be put. The

    text alignment is set to full. New paragraphs within a chapter should begin with a blank line.

    Two blank lines should be inserted before a new heading.

    2. GENERAL SETTINGS

    The paper size of the document must be set to A4. All margins are set to 25 mm for A4 size,

    and 1 inch for letter size. Do not put page numbers. Automatic hyphenation must be off.

    Header or footer text or footnotes may not be used. References should be numbered and listed

    in the order of their citation in the text [1]. The reference numbers should be in square

    brackets (ex. [2], [3].) The reference list is put at the end of the paper and has no paragraph

    number. A blank line separates items in the reference list. An example of the layout and items

    is given at the end of this document.

    3. TABLES

    Tables and equations have independent numbering. Word processor features for automatic

    numbering may notbe used. The title is put before the table and the captions is in the same

    line as the the title.

    The table or equation is centred between the left and right margins. It is not allowed to wrap

    text around a table or graph

    Tables and equations must be made using standard built-in features of the word processor

    used.

    4. FIGURES AND GRAPHS

    Figures (including graphs) have independent numbering and their captions are put below them.

    Also they are centred between the left and right margins.

    5. SUBMITTING PAPERS

    Before submitting, please consult with your supervisor to clarify that you have extracted the

    main findings of your study. Papers must be submitted in both hardcopy and electronic

    form to the class representativewith all related files copied to a CD. Name of your file mailshould be Paper AR2010_your name (e.g. Paper AR2011_Siti Hendon). The word

    processing software to be used is Microsoft Word.

    Photos or drawings should be scanned electronically. In case there is no facility to do this on

    authors site, only original ones may be sent to the editors. No photocopies are accepted.

    Deadline for the submission is 10 October 2011 to Dr. Siti Hendon Sheikh Abdullah. Aftermaking any changes requested by the referees, a revised final manuscript must be received by

    not later than 26 October 2011.
