Guided Imagery and Relaxation Guided imagery is the practice of visualiz- ing positive outcomes to lessen anxiety, pro- vide relaxation, and help alleviate some of the side effects of radiation therapy. This process can enhance the body's immune system and promote healing. Meditation Meditation is a way of quieting the mind and calming the nervous system. Reducing mental, physical and emotional stress helps to promote peace of mind and health. Energy Therapy (Reiki, Healing Touch and Therapeutic Touch) Energy work is based on a fundamental understanding that everything in the universe is made up of energy. Where are the sessions held and is there a fee?Brief sessions are provided in thecomfort care room in RadiationTherapy and are free to oncologypatients. Patients currently receivingRadiation Therapy will have sched-uling preference for the comfort caresessions and programs. Each month,a schedule of therapies and programswill be available at the RadiationTherapy reception desk.

How can other CHI services beaccessed? Call 860-889-8331, ext.2483 to make an appointment.Family members, patients, or health-care providers may call for inpatient services. All services are open to the community.

Extended sessions of Massage,Reiki, Healing Touch, Reflexologyand Acupuncture are offered at theCenter for Healthcare Integrationacross from the hospital and areavailable to patients, families and thecommunity. No referral is required.The cost for extended sessions isdirectly paid to the therapist.

Gift certificates are also available in theHospital gift shop or at the CHI Center.
