The Guide to the Good startup social enterprise was a major focus, and the website going live in November 2016 was a headline event. The Guide to the Good social enterprise will be the engine that brings sustainability to thegreenrock.ca. It is an online and outreach platform that makes it easy for people to choose green, social and local in the Northeast Avalon. thegreenrock.ca built it because buying local brings economic, social, ethical and envi- ronmental benefits to our communities. Since it went live, it has had a great reception and a growing following. Individuals and companies continue to like, watch and read Guide to the Good’s content! startup social enterprise was a major focus, and the website going live in November 2016

was a headline event. The Guide to the Good social enterprise will be the engine that brings

In Its Place! - thegreenrock.ca’s proposal to pilot

In Its Place - a

recycling and

compost pro-

ject was ap-

proved by

the Wellness

Coalition Av-

alon East Grant. This pilot was launched at

Macdonald Drive Junior High School in part-

nership with the school, Kids Eat Smart Founda-

tion, Clean St. John’s and Island Compost.

Business for Good is a knowledge mobilization

project supported by Memorial’s Office of

Public Engagement Accelerator Fund, in collab-

oration with the Centre for Social Enterprise

and the Business Faculty. The year-long pro-

ject will help bring practical social enterprise

information to students, and academic social

enterprise theory to practitioners.

InterGeneration—thegreenrock.ca Perla Her-

nandez is an alumni of the Co-operators’ IM-

PACT! Youth Sustainability Leadership program,

and was successful in a proposal to pilot Inter-

Generation, an environmental awareness and

action program that brings seniors from Agnes
