Fire Rated Penetrations

Introduction to Fire Rated Penetrations

This document aims to assist Architects, Engineers, Certifiers, Contractors and Builders in correctly specifying and installing fire rated penetration seals. All of the systems in this document are tested or assessed against AS 1530 Part 4 and AS 4072 Part 1.

This document is produced as a guide only and for specific FRL’s and test reports please contact Promat WA directly. Testing of a broad range of penetration seals is an ongoing process. If a specific service is not listed within this document, please contact Promat WA as there may be new test evidence available after the time of printing this document.

1. Identify if your penetration is passing through a floor or a wall, and establish the required FRL.

2. Use the table at the top of each page that matches your criteria to establish maximum opening size in the floor or wall to be penetrated.

3. Look up the specific service to identify the protection product required that meets your required criteria.

4. Make the appropriate selection and follow the installation instructions that are available in Promat WA’s Fire Stopping Application Guide.

5. Specification statements for Promat’s range of fire stopping products are listed on pages 13-15 of this document.

** Please Note: If your service or FRL required is not listed, please contact Promat WA and we will provide technical assistance.**
