CHCM Administrator

Several people have been assigned by Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota (CHCM) to administer this package of AHIMA online training. Each CHCM administrator has access to your enrollment information and test scores and is able to follow your training progress. These CHCM administrators will work with AHIMA to find the answer to any questions you may have about: Accessing online classes or your student record The content of your classes, including tests and examinations The certificate you get when you finish a continuing education class Technical issues

Kindly take note: you should never call or e-mail an AHIMA customer service representative or AHIMA Distance Education staff member with questions. AHIMA representatives are not equipped to assist you with issues related to this customized corporate training. Your CHCM administrators have a direct line to the corporate account team at AHIMA and will communicate issues to them as needed.

The contact information for your CHCM administrators is below. At some point the person assigned to administer your training may change. The updated contact information should be current in the FAQ (there is a link on your login page). Please contact this CHCM administrator with any questions or support needs:

Patti Collins Smith [email protected]

Andrea Anderson [email protected]

Laura Meyer [email protected]

Cynthia Larson [email protected] We encourage you to communicate with this person by e-mail (rather than by telephone) since requests need to be in writing if they need to discuss details of your inquiry with AHIMA.

Click any title to open the class. Click the open book icon next to the title to go to the place in the class where you last exited. A wealth of information is available in the class Introduction/Syllabus pages (e.g., Objectives, Process, FAQ).

Begin a Class

Read the Welcome message on the opening screen. Pay special attention to this message: IMPORTANT! Some of the instructions given in this class were written for AHIMA's individual registrants and are not relevant to you as a Providence Health & Services (PHS) learner.

Click the title of the class in the left navigation area. IMPORTANT! Some classes open within the browser window you have open and some classes open in a new window. You must keep the original browser window open while taking the class in the pop-up window. VERY IMPORTANT! You must have ALL pop-up blockers turned off. Pop-up blockers will prevent classes from opening that open in a new window.

Read relevant materials in the Introduction/Syllabus folder. You do not have to read the information on support provided by AHIMA. It applies only to students taking the class as an individual registrant.

Navigation

If there is a Table of Contents on the left side, you can move between elements by clicking folders/pages in the table of contents structure at the left. Use the "-"and "+" buttons to open and close folders. There are also PREV and NEXT or arrow buttons for moving ahead and back. If your browser's BACK and NEXT buttons are showing, NEVER click them for navigating within the course.

Note: NEVER click on a test folder before you are ready to take it. You may by shut out of the test since you are often limited in the number of submission you are allowed! A test folder will have a title such as "Lesson Assessment," "LA," "Final Exam," "Final," "FA", "Final Assessment," or "Test".

Begin Coursework

From the Coursework page, click the NEXT button to begin "Lesson 1". Read through the introductory material and objectives for the lesson, look at the page titles, and when you’re done, move to Page 1 and begin learning! There will be instructions on each page that explain what you need to do each step of the way. Note: If you have any general questions, before contacting your Providence Health & Services (PHS) administrator, refer back to the pages of information in the Introduction/Syllabus. Do not contact AHIMA.

After the Final Assessment/Exam

Grade Report To access your grade report, go to your Home page and click My Learning > My Grades. If it is your first time getting a report, you may be instructed to download a plug-in to allow viewing/printing of Crystal Reports. Please do this. Next, choose either All My Classes or Classes from List. If you choose "Classes from List," you should next highlight the class title (hold down the CTRL key to select multiple classes at a time) and click the Add button to move your selection over to the empty box below.

Next, choose "Options Destination" Screen. Finally, click Create Report. Your grade report will open in a new window.

Below is an example of what a grade report looks like.

Certificate of Completion AHIMA certificates of completion are granted for successful* completion of a training or assessment. * The standards for "success" can differ by class to class. The majority define success as 70% or better on the graded test (or a total of all graded tests.) The requirements are listed in each class or assessment. In most CEU courses**, you must first fill out an online survey before receiving a certificate of completion. In all assessments (and in a small number of CEU courses), a student doesn’t have to fill out a survey first. The certificate is available immediately after the student successfully completes the training or assessment. ** CEU courses are courses for which CEUs are granted. This does not include courses in the Coding Basic program (e.g., Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Pathophysiology/Pharmacology). Another exception to this rule is any course that grading depends on instructor review of projects submitted—such as in the course Coding Management. For AHIMA CEU tracking, Certificates of Completion are to be kept by the students themselves in their own CEU filing systems. Nothing is submitted to AHIMA except the yearly report of CEUs earned.

As soon as the student reaches the certificate page (after a survey or directly following an assessment), the student should enter her/his name into the box and then click "Certificate".

A separate pop-up window opens at the same time as the certificate; this window prompts the student to print. We recommend that students print several copies for their records. In some courses, students may not be able to access this certificate again. At this point, students who want to "print" to PDF format should select CANCEL. (AHIMA recommends printing to PDF* so that students have a copy of the certificate on their hard drive that they can then print out later.). * There are a number of reliable, free PDF creators available via the web. Just search for "PDF creator."

Next, the student would click PRINT PREVIEW on the browser menu and choose the icon for PAGE SETUP.

In PAGE SETUP, a student should make sure that all the headers and footers are set to EMPTY and then click OK.

Finally, the student should choose PRINT.

The student would then choose the printer ADOBE PDF (or whatever PDF printer is available on that computer.)
