COURSE OVERVIEW

2017 marks the 18th anniversary of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Annual Advanced Practice Nurse Conference. The conference covers timely professional topics and up-to-date clinical care of children and adolescents who present with complex medical and behavioral issues. Opportunities for interactive learning and professional networking will augment the didactic component of the sessions. The conference is targeted to advanced practice nurses in primary care and acute/chronic specialties. Nursing and pharmacology CEUs will be provided by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC).

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Madeline Bell, President and CEO, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia

Ms. Bell began her career as a pediatric nurse at CHOP in 1983, later leaving the organization to move into hospital administration. She returned to CHOP in 1995 to lead Home Care and Case Management, and has since held a number of leadership positions, advancing from Vice President to Senior Vice President to Executive Vice President to Chief Operating Officer. In 2015, she assumed the title of President and CEO. Ms. Bell has made numerous contributions to CHOP, including the development of one of the largest pediatric ambulatory networks in the country, the implementation of a single-platform electronic health record, the expansion of the Hospital’s 4-million-square-foot campus, and the development of many nationally recognized clinical and family-centered care programs. Her background in patient care has given her a deep appreciation for the clinical world, and she always stays focused on improving care for children.

GENERAL INFORMATION

The conference will be held in the Ruth and Tristram Colket, Jr. Translational Research Building at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

REGISTRATION FEE

The registration fee includes continental breakfast, breaks, lunch, reception, parking and program materials.

Full conference: $325 Student rate (full course only): $250 One day: $199

COURSE OBJECTIVES

• List two current pediatric infectious disease concerns in the United States.

• Describe two current APN policy/legislative issues.

• Articulate two creative strategies for providing healthcare to patients who are experiencing homelessness.

• Discuss treatment for at least two pediatric dermatology diagnoses.

CONTINUING NURSING EDUCATION APPROVED PROVIDER STATEMENT

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS

There is a citywide convention taking place in Philadelphia during the APN Conference. Please make your hotel arrangements as soon as possible. Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has reserved a block of rooms with reduced rates at The Inn at the League, 1450 Sansom St., Philadelphia, Pa. 19102 (215-587-5570). The group rates are $229 single and double occupancy plus a 7 percent room tax. Participants are required to make their own hotel reservations by calling the Inn directly at 215-587-5570. The special room rate will be available until Monday, April 10. After that date, reservations will be accepted on a space and rate availability basis. A shuttle to and from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia will be provided from the Union League.

She returned to CHOP in 1995 to lead Home Care and Case Management, and has since held a number of leadership positions, advancing from Vice President to Senior Vice President to Executive Vice President to Chief Operating Officer. In 2015, she assumed the title of President and CEO. Ms. Bell has made numerous contributions to CHOP, including the development of one of the largest pediatric ambulatory networks in the country, the implementation of a single-platform electronic health record, the expansion of the Hospital’s 4-million-square-foot campus, and the development of many nationally recognized clinical and family-centered care programs. Her background in patient care has given her a deep appreciation for the clinical world, and she always stays focused on improving care for children.

CONTINUING NURSING EDUCATION APPROVED PROVIDER STATEMENT

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to any unforeseen circumstances. In the event of cancellation or postponement, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia will refund any registration fees, less a $40 service charge, but is not responsible for any related costs, charges or expenses to participants, including cancellation charges assessed by airlines or travel agencies. In order to process refunds for course withdrawals, cancellation must be received in writing by Monday, May 1, 2017. No refunds will be issued thereafter.
