With mini-courses for ages 5 to 8 and full-day programs for ages 9 to 18, we have something for everyone. Jamie Loback, a native of the Pembroke area, completed his early musical training in piano with Marjorie Raddatz and Jan- ice Hawthorne, in organ with Lori Wiesenberg-Moss and in vio- lin with Kirsten Waymann. Throughout his secondary studies at Fellowes High School, Jamie was a member of the Pem- broke Symphony Orchestra, per- forming as a percussionist and, occasionally, as an organist. He also periodically sang with the Pembroke Community Choir and served as a pia- nist with the Pembroke Musical Society. He went on to receive a bachelor's and master's degree in music at the University of Ottawa, specializing in piano, choral con- ducting, and music theory. In 2010, he joined the Ewash- ko Singers (under the direction of Laurence Ewashko) as organist/pianist for the ensemble's Italian concert tour of Venice, Florence, and Rome. In 2011, Jamie became the principal director of the Ottawa Catholic School Board's Chamber Choir, an auditioned ensemble composed of ad- vanced secondary school music students from the Ottawa region. Earlier this season he served as the Assistant Cho- rus Master for the National Arts Centre's annual perfor- mance of Handel's Messiah, preparing the chorus for Maestros Laurence Ewashko and Trevor Pinnock. In 2012- 2013, he will assume the position of Artistic Director of the recently established Capital Chamber Choir, a 24-voice ensemble that specializes in Canadian choral repertoire. Jamie is currently the Director of Music at St. Joseph's Parish in Ottawa, where he is the organist and conductor of the Parish's three choirs. In addition to his work as a choral director, Jamie is also a composer, focusing primar- ily on liturgical choral music. Since January, Jamie has collaborated with Gerald LaRonde in preparing the Pembroke Community Choir for this concert. He is delighted to have been invited to con- duct the Pembroke Symphony Orchestra and Pembroke Community Choir in today's anniversary performance. Gerald LaRonde – Choral Director, PCC Gerald is a local high school music teacher who has been a part of the music-making scene in Pembroke and area. He has been involved with the Pembroke Community Choir in the past as a chorister and director. He has been involved with the former Pembroke Musical Society and Pembroke Little Theatre as music director for their productions and for a number of musicals presented by Fellowes High School. He also plays the organ and directs the choir for The Church of the Most Holy Name of Jesus. Darlene TerMarsch – Rehearsal Accompanist, PCC Darlene TerMarsch has been involved with various musical organizations over the years, i.e., Pembroke Community Choir, Pembroke Musical Society, Legion Swing Band, Deep River Symphony Orchestra, Deep River Cantando Singers, Valley Festival Choir, Pembroke Symphony Orchestra and Sounds of Swing Orchestra. She is accomplished in piano, organ, harpsichord and percussion, and has studied both piano and voice through the Royal Conservatory of Music. Jamie Loback, a native ofthe Pembroke area, completed hisearly musical training in pianowith Marjorie Raddatz and Jan-ice Hawthorne, in organ withLori Wiesenberg-Moss and in vio-lin with Kirsten Waymann.Throughout his secondarystudies at Fellowes High School,Jamie was a member of the Pem-broke Symphony Orchestra, per-forming as a percussionist and,

occasionally, as an organist. He also periodically sangwith the Pembroke Community Choir and served as a pia-nist with the Pembroke Musical Society.  He went on toreceive a bachelor's and master's degree in music at theUniversity of Ottawa, specializing in piano, choral con-ducting, and music theory. In 2010, he joined the Ewash-ko Singers (under the direction of Laurence Ewashko) asorganist/pianist for the ensemble's Italian concert tour ofVenice, Florence, and Rome. In 2011, Jamie became theprincipal director of the Ottawa Catholic School Board'sChamber Choir, an auditioned ensemble composed of ad-vanced secondary school music students from the Ottawaregion. A recenthighlight was to perform in theOttawa Bach Choir 10th anniver-sary concert for which he sangBach’s andthe role of Pontifex Caiaphas. Onthe opera stage, Christopher isconsistently acknowledged forhis talent as a singing characteractor and has been applauded forhis portrayal of many roles, nota-bly Leporello ( ), DonBartolo ( and

), Uberto (), Papageno and

Sarastro ( ), and multiple character roles of theRobber ( ) and Brentano (

). Christopher’s engagements in 2012 include Dr.Grenvil in with Pellegrini Opera, Pish Tush in

Hailed as “exciting to watch …and a joy to hear” (DaphnaLevit,Opera Canada) and a “stylishsoloist” (Steve Smith, New YorkTimes) Ottawa tenor Jeffery Boydis equally at home on both concertand operatic stages. With an un-dergraduate in performance fromMcGill and master's in voice fromthe University of Western Ontar-io, Jeff featured in many produc-

tions during his studies including Ravel's and Offenbach's . Recent

roles include Tamino in Opera Kitchener's production ofMozart's , and Hoffmann in Halifax SummerOpera Workshop's . Jeff has worked inthe choruses of the Canadian Opera Company( ),Toronto's Opera Atelier ( ), and theMontreal Symphony Orchestra ( ,

) In the summer of 2011 Jeff made his Carne-gie Hall debut with the Ottawa Bach Choir, a group withwhich he regularly performs as soloist and member. In arecent concert of Schutz's with thatgroup “tenor Jeffrey Boyd was solid and expressive in thegruelling role of the Evangelist.”(Richard Todd, OttawaCitizen) Jeff has also featured with Ottawa's Cantata Sing-ers in their recent concert of Haydn's andwith Niagara's Choralis Camerata in Handel's .Next weekend he performs the role of Gastone with Pelli-grini Opera in their April production of , andthis September as Ferrando with Ottawa's Capital City Op-era in .

Mezzo-soprano WhitneyO’Hearn “has a warm andexpressive voice and anamazing sense of line” (OttawaCitizen). Mrs. O’Hearn hasachieved her Bachelor of Musicas well as her Master of Musicin vocal performance at theUniversity of Ottawa School ofMusic, where she studied withrenowned Canadian mezzo-so-prano Sandra Graham. She hasperformed in numerous masterclasses and received coachingsfrom Gilbert Kalish, DonnaBrown, and Russell Braun.

In 2009, Whitney was in-vited as a guest artist to per-form Schoenberg’s

with the Stony Brook Contemporary ChamberPlayers, Stony Brook, NY, she received the Frederick-Karam Scholarship, and she was the winner of the Univer-sity of Ottawa Concerto Competition, with whom she per-formed Gustav Mahler’s . She hasrecently performed in the Ottawa International ChamberFestival, the Festival Pontiac Enchanté, and she appearedas Mercedes in the wildly successful overits summer 2010 and summer 2011 seasons.

Whitney is currently the alto soloist at the very wellestablished St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Ottawa.She hopes you’ll enjoy today’s experience.

Princess ( ) with Patria Productions inthe Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Reserve. Ms. Radke canbe heard as the voice of Tosca in the computer animatedshort “Vissi d’arte” by Black Cherry Digital Media that hasbeen shown at festivals in Ottawa, Italy and Japan. Kath-leen is also featured on the CD “A Christmas Story” withharpist Caroline Léonardelli and on “Festival Baroque”with the Ottawa Bach Choir. Kathleen holds an Opera Di-ploma from Wilfrid Laurier University where she studiedwith bass-baritone Daniel Lichti. She received a Bachelorof Music and a Performance Diploma from McMaster Uni-versity. She was a member of the Festival Choir of the Eu-ropean Music Festival under the direction of HelmuthRilling, performing in Stuttgart, Bonn, Athens and Ber-lin. Ms. Radke continues her studies in Ottawa with sopra-no Donna Brown.

Angus Armstrong began his studies of music in 1975at the University of British Columbia. Among his teacherswere trombonists Gordon Cherry and Douglas Sparkes ofthe Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. In 1976, Angusmoved to Montreal to enroll in music at McGill University,studied under bass trombonist Ted Griffith of the MontrealSymphony Orchestra, and graduated in 1979 with HighDistinction in Trombone Performance. For two years fol-lowing graduation, Angus continued his studies underGordon Sweeney of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra andArnold Jacobs and Frank Crisa-fulli of the Chicago SymphonyOrchestra. In 1981, Angus moved toOttawa to take up the post oftrombonist with the ConcertBand of the RCMP. In 1986 hebecame solo trombonist, key-boardist and principal arrangerfor the RCMP's 8-member BisonBand, a post he held until 1993.In Ottawa, Angus has per-formed with the National ArtsCentre Orchestra and is an ac-tive member of the freelancemusic community, playing ingroups across the spectrum ofmusical genres. He is also amember of the Ottawa Sympho-ny Orchestra, Principal Trombone of l'Orchestre de cham-bre de Gatineau, and a member, writer and musicarranger for Capital Brassworks, a group of 14 of Otta-wa's leading brass and percussion players. Angus is trom-bone instructor at the Conservatoire de musique deGatineau, professor of trombone at Carleton University,conductor of the Parkdale Orchestra and Music Director ofthe Ottawa Junior Youth Orchestra (since 1997).
