His performances, besides extensive concertizing in Brazil, have taken him to Germany (Munich, Hannover, Zwickau), Switzerland (Geneve), the United States of America (Hartford, Salt Lake City), Italy (Merana) and Spain (Zaragoza and Barcelona). In 1998, he gave recitals in the United States and took part in the Music Festival in Merana (Italy), which won him enthusiastic praise and invitations for other performances. He has won fifteen competitions and been awarded several special prizes, including Best Brazilian Musician, Best Chamber Player, and Audience's Favorite. Highlights of these awards include the Premio Pro-Arte for 20th-century music in Rio de Janeiro; the South American Contest in Goiania, where he was selected to represent Latin America in Gina Bachauer International Piano Contest in the United States, and the Second Promon Contest in Sao Paulo.

He has performed concerti with orchestras in Estado de Sao Paulo and Santo Andre, the USP Symphony Orchestra, and the Braziha Symphony Orchestra. Important Brazilian composers, such as Alrnei Prado, have dedicated compositions to Monteiro.
