GUSAWA AT A GLANCE The Guadalupe Weavers Association (GUSAWA) is a community-based enterprise organization in Coron, Palawan. Established in September 2014, GUSAWA is an offshoot of a livelihood assistance provided by the International Labour Organization (ILO) through the Partnership of Philippine Support Agencies (PHILSSA) after the onslaught of Super Typhoon Haiyan. Sawali weaving has held its place in Guadalupe as the go-to livelihood of the community for generations. The association has over 40 members who are all masters of the art of sawali weaving and are making it to become a sustainable livelihood that would benefit not only their families, but the entire community. We at GUSAWA, with the help of relevant stakeholders, strive to promote sawali weaving as an integral part of tourism in Coron, Palawan.
