1. OPENING

2. MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING

The minutes were agreed.

3. MATTERS ARISING/OUTSTANDING

To be taken under Agenda items.

4. MISCELLANEOUS CORRESPONDENCE

Letters have been received regarding the maintenance of some of the common areasaround Goldsworth Park. IW and NR have the matter in hand and will report back onanything of note.

5. TREASURER’S REPORT

Accounts to the end of the financial year in June 2014 were presented. Theseincluded two years insurance premiums and showed a deficit of £4,054.74 for theyear. The only expenditure this financial year has been £110 in newsletterdistribution costs and £50 in fees for a training course to be attended by IW and PH.No monies have yet been received from WBC, despite Ray Morgan’s assurance atthe last AGM.

PH has not yet looked into depositing money with Surrey Save Credit Union.

6. HALL MANAGER'S REPORT

IW and PD had met with WBC and the architects and there has been some progresson getting the final plans, although there is no finishing schedule or date. The newlighting looks good, and forced ventilation is being installed. Free Wi-Fi will beoffered if the Association can obtain it for a reasonable charge. The hall will need itsown alarm systems and monitoring as it is now separate from Toad Hall. PD isinvestigating the cost of fixtures, fittings and essential signage. With the help of SH,GPCA has applied for a grant to cover the cost of two fridge/freezers and a rangecooker, as replacing the existing equipment is not covered by the insurance.

It is now envisaged that Toad Hall will open on 1st November; this delay has beencaused by non-attendance of subcontractors. A meeting was held today but GPCAhas received no feedback as yet. All efforts are being concentrated on the nursery;the hall is expected to be handed back a couple of weeks after the nursery.

7. BAR MANAGER'S REPORT

The brewery has visited to advise on the provision of keg chillers and it may bepossible to source two bottle chillers from WBC.

8. GOLDSWORTH NEWS

JH reported that production is going well and expressed his gratitude to contributors.5080 copies of the latest issue were printed, of which 4700 have been distributed. There are 1100 households which do not currently receive a copy, 600 of which arein the Lakeview area. RH suggested that the Salvation Army be approached redelivery in that area; NR suggested asking Home Support Officers in the shelteredhousing blocks.

JG asked if there were any plans to resume monthly issues of Goldsworth News;there are no plans to do so at present.

SW and JH have been working on a new GPCA website, built on a template that canbe viewed on mobiles and tablets, and SW showed the meeting the test version. This will include latest posts, to which people will be able to reply, items of interest, and links to other organisations. Previous editions of the newsletter will eventually beaccessible from the site. This is very much a work in progress and comments aremost welcome. The test site can be viewed at www.gp-woking.uk.

9. LAKE MATTERS

RW reported that there had been an abundance of wildlife on the lake this year.Although the kingfishers did not use the kingfisher bank, a pair of grey wagtails didnest there, and kingfishers have been seen in the vicinity recently.

There had been a drop in the number of fishermen, but some good catches had beenrecorded, including a 42lb carp.

The establishment of an Angling Club is moving forward. Presentations have beenmade to WBC, Thames Water and the Environment Agency. The objectives of theclub will be to ensure revenue raised from fishing is used to support the lakeenvironment and to encourage more people, particularly young people, to take upangling by providing teaching programmes

10. ANY OTHER BUSINESS

10.1 IW reported that WBC had only just replied regarding the street maps. It will berelatively straightforward to replace the existing maps but a new one in KirklandAvenue would be more difficult. The question of a map near the recreation groundcar park will be raised at the next Recreation Ground and Lake Users meeting. NRasked if the maps could show the Trading Estate and the approach road. SW willlook into this.

10.2 AM advised that GPR currently had 300 playing members and 650 non-playingmembers and that after a successful year had been able to donate £3000 toShooting Star Chase. They are currently seeking funding for a proper storage facility.Problems with car parking in residential streets at a recent event had been causedwhen offered off street parking became unavailable at short notice, a circumstanceoutside the club’s control.

10.3 A number of people have applied for the staff vacancies at the local Post Office. ThePost Office will be closed for one week for re-furbishment, and will re-open withlonger opening hours.

10.4 There is no further news on Costa Coffee, or on the refurbishment of the children’splay area.

10.5 RH asked if there was any possibility of GPCA once again organising a Party in thePark. IW replied that she would be willing to co-ordinate and help but was unwillingto take on the whole burden of the event herself as had happened in the past.

10.6 There is a campaign including a petition to install a Zebra crossing to replace thecurrent pedestrian refuge near the Fox and Flowerpot in Bampton Way.

10.7 Concerns have been raised about the density of the trees overhanging the footpathleading to the footbridge over Lockfield Drive.
