The argumentative turn of the 50s and the 60s which
has to be taken as a part of the wider phenomenon of the
weakening of Cartesian epistemologies in the 20th cen-
tury has provided a flourishing of studies on commu-nicative methods in the various fields of experience for
many years. We have seen a true renewal of logic even
in its own meaning, thanks expecially to some schools of
thinking in Europe and Canada.
The rhetorical nature of legal argumentation has been
for a number of years the main topic of CERMEG, which
has dedicated to it all the previous editions of GTR where
lawyers, judges, advocates and experts had the chance
of discussing it.
Our aim this year is to create a meeting point for compa-
rison among some of the most remarkable accounts on
argumentation and rhetoric, putting them in touch with
Italian scholars of legal philosophy. We hope to offer the
best conditions for bridging the gap between different the-
oretical and practical viewpoints.
