BIS RBIS BISS BPIS Can GCH/Am CH Leaside’s Cherry Creek Daisy Sire: GCH/Am CH Whisperidge’s The Great Gatsby FDJ
Dam: GCH/Am CH Legacyk Tangled up in Blue
Daisy, for me, is a dog of many firsts. In her three short years, she’s given everything and asked for nothing in return... except snuggs, and of course countless cookies. She is by my sweet boy, Gatz and out of Ayla (formally known as GCH/Am CH Whisperidge’s The Great Gatsby FDJ, and GCH/Am CH Legacyk Tangled up in Blue) co-bred by my bestest friend and mentor, Nancibeth Koutstaal.
Our first day in the ring she was awarded Group 1 from the bred by class under Mr. David Swartwood... that weekend she had taken 3 group wins, and a best puppy in show under Pointer breeder-judge Ms. Denys Janssen. With her Canadian Championship well earned we continued on toward her Grand Championship, which was awarded in three weekends, including a select bitch win at the Erie Shores GSPCC Specialty 2017.
Daisy was shown selectively in 2018, and was lucky enough to be assisted and handled by her best-bud handler Wally Ace, who piloted her to BOS at the GSPCC National in Cornwall, 2018. That same year Daisy won her first Specialty BIS at Caledon Kennel Club’s GSPCC Regional. A first for me and an unforgettable moment.
2019 we decided to make a go of it, and try for another first... a Grand Champion Excellent title. While we knew going in it would be a hard road, I believed in my heart she was worthy and we could do anything we set out for. This past weekend at Hamilton Kennel Club has brought us almost to the end of this journey. Winning 7 group wins so far this year, Daisy kicked into high-gear and was given the BIS nod by FCI all-breed judge, Mr. Kresten Scheel, over Canada’s top dogs. I still pinch myself to make sure it really happened. A complete dream come true as a breeder owner handler.
Daisy is my dream dog. I am so blessed to be supported by the fancy and my heart swells to have so many well-wishers and mentors. This year is my most proud as a new(ish) breeder. I am profoundly thankful and lucky to have such a wonderful, goofy, beautiful girl, and even luckier to have such a wonderful support system that have helped us achieve the next step in all of our endeavours. Daisy is proof that hard work, love, and a little bit of sass are the ingredients to a dream come true!

The Tail End Members’ Wags & Brags!
From Cristina & Rich Ralph
Just a year ago Greta and I made our debut in
performance dog sports by trialing in Rally
Novice at the North York Obedience Club Trials. I
cannot believe what this young girl has
accomplished in one year! Today, again at the
North York Obedience Club, she achieved her
CDX title! An early birthday present as she is not
yet 2! So very proud of our special girl!
Thank you to the GSPCC for awarding Aspenglow’s Greta (Lucy/Mickey) the first Versatility Dog
Advanced (VDA) certificate! We are excited to see what else this youngster can do in the future!

GSPCC Board Meeting June 20, 2019
In attendance: F Bernier, J Jackson, D Schindel, D Nowlan, M Foster
Absent: K Walsh, H Brennan, R Whale, L Cere, B Taws
It was noted that we did not have a quorum with the members present.
Minutes of the last board meeting were reviewed.
Posting by Donna LaChance on the Alberta Association of Purebred Dog Breeders & Owners FB page
The attached letter was posted by Donna LaChance and we discussed editing and sharing with our membership in Alberta and also with other breed clubs that have docked breeds so that they can, as suggested, “bombard” their vets and members of Alberta legislature in an effort to stress the discrimination we are facing with the ruling that effective July 1st vets in Alberta will no longer be allowed to dock and crop. Also discussed sending copies to the Ombudsman.
Update on the Alberta NSS
Janna advised that entries closed last night and that the total number of dogs entered are 42, more details as to the breakdown to be provided later.
The fundraising efforts have gone very well, with buffs having sold out (M Foster has a few left from the package received from Angel).
The calendar fundraiser has also been very successful, with 18 pages sold, many of them in the US, the pictures are fun, there is even one of dock diving. It will be a calendar starting with the month of January 2020, Janna to work on the graphics and provide a sample so we can start advertising for sale.
Ribbons for the national are on order.
Francois mentioned if it was possible to continue to do a special raffle at this national, with the proceeds to go to a charity of choice. We discussed the print that was donated by Ducks Unlimited that was raffled at the last water test, and subsequently carried to the Long Sault 2018 national to be re-raffled (the original donor donated it back to us). Maria to approach Dennis Penuta to see if he can get us another donation of a print from Ducks Unlimited and a contact in Alberta so that we can hopefully get it in Alberta to do the same this year. Janna mentioned that there were also other clubs having specialties and we could have more contributions to the raffle from them. Dale mentioned that the GSPFCA are running field and water tests in conjunction with the national.

Submission by MEWhyte
The suggestion of charging $100 for membership with $20 to be put towards membership and the balance to be put towards national events was reviewed, and the board appreciates the concern voiced by Mary Ellen but it would be hard to explain to our pet members to send in an amount of $100 in membership fees.
It was also noted that although we post requests for donations for the various specialties the club hosts, we receive few donations which is discouraging to the members who work at putting on these events.
Proposed 2020 NSS at Long Sault
Discussion took place about the next NSS and the proposal to go back to Long Sault as the Ontario venue of choice. The panel is available and Tom Alexander and Ann Yuhasz are two of the choices in the all-breed panel.
Francois asked if Tom had judged a previous National and Diane mentioned he did the 2003 national in Saskatoon. He also judged the regional the day after the national in Winnipeg.
Francois to get more information on the judges in the panel and bring to the board for a final vote.
GSPCC donation to the AKC/GSPCA Hemangiosarcoma fund
As agreed during an email board exchange, a USD bank draft for $1,000 has been sent to the AKC GSP Hemangiosarcoma Fund with a copy of the letter going to Lynn Pettinato at GSPCA.
New 2020 Board elections
Arrangements to put a committee together for our 2020 board elections to be set up during the month of September.
Next Board Meeting
Tentatively end of October.
Meeting adjourned
