Introduction

The GSA Auto SoftSubmit is a program designed to submit your software to hundreds of web sites. It will save you a lot of time and money since its fully automated. Promoting your software has never been easier. Load a PAD file and let the program do the rest. The

program gets updated several times a month to make sure all included providers (over 3.900and growing) still work. There are a lot of web sites with shareware and freeware. Is your application listed on those? This program will take care of it and submits your software toall of them. But why is it so important to have your software listed there? Not only that morecustomers will find and buy your software, but also your ranking in the search engines willdramatically rise since many of the shareware sites have a back link to your web site.

So how does the submission work?

a) Load or create a PAD file b) Hit Main Menu → File → Submit → All checked Provider

c) On that dialog simply press OK

That's usually all you have to do. The program keeps in mind whenever a submission withthat loaded pad file was successful or not and unchecks the site automatically if nosubmission is required.

The Main GUI

At the top you will have the ability to load the PAD file (Open button). You can also create a newPAD file or edit an existing one. You can also enter a PAD URL if you want to.

A PAD file is a structured XML file that holds all the data of a software that is required for websites to list it. That includes screenshots, price information, a description, download URLs and so on. This PAD file is placed online where software sites will download and check for updates. So whenever you update your PAD file and upload it, software sites will detect changes and will also update there listing. You can find more information about PAD

files here: http://www.asp-shareware.org/pad/

In the middle you see the sites you can submit to (provider name, submission status, site type, whatthey accept as submission, if they require a back link (BL), auto update on pad change (AU), loginrequired (L)). Next to the site listing you will see the statistics of successful, failed and unknownsubmissions together with the color and numbers.

At the left you see the toolbar where you can do different things like start the submission, go tosettings menu, check for program updates and fine tune the site selection.

The bottom holds information about the highlighted provider in the listing (screenshot, pagerank,…).

PAD Editor

With the PAD Editor you create all the information that is required for a software site to list your software. Fill as much information as possible. Not all fields are required to get filled out, but if youwant to make sure that your software gets accepted to many sites, you should try to fill all fields.

Very important fields are the all under Program Info, Descriptions and Web Info. Also make sureyou add a valid E-Mail under Company Info. You will get a lot E-Mails with verification links youhave to click to get the software listed. So leaving these fields empty is not a good idea.

For some fields you can use the famous spinning syntax. That are “Description → AdditionalDescriptions”, “Press” and “Article”. The spin syntax looks like this:

This software is {good|excellent|useful}.

And when the final text is generated it can have 3 different sentences in this example. But you canonly use that in the three areas mentioned above as the pad file specification doesn't allow you touse it elsewhere.

Once you are done with the PAD creating/editing, you should upload the PAD file to your server. This is important as some sites will just need the PAD-URL and nothing else. So if that PAD file isnot updated online, the software will not get updated on those sites.

Site Selection

Usually you will not need this as the program keeps in mind where you have successfully submittedand will uncheck the sites for you on when you load a pad file. However you still might only wantto submit to certain sites than all available sites. For this situation you can use the Selection tool thatyou can reach over the Main Menu → Tools or on the Toolbar.

Page 6: GSA Auto SoftSubmit Documentation

You can for example check only German providers with a PageRank better than 0. You can do thatin the following steps:

1. chose “Unchek” + “All” → Set

2. chose “Check” + “Provider country: DE” → Set

3. chose “Uncheck” + “PageRank: 0” → Set

If you load a new pad file, the selection if of course gone again, so you can load/save the selectionfor a later use.

Automatic Submission

There are various ways to submit to the sites. The most common one and the one you will probablyuse is the fully automated submission. That's possible with Main Menu → Submit → All checkedProviders. A dialog as the one above will appear where you can again fine tune the submission

process.

a) Submit also to:

Only software sites are used to submit to by default. If you plan to submit to other sites, please make sure the content on your pad file is present (Article, Press releasecontent).

b) Reciprocal providers

Some sites want you to place a link to there sites on your site before you start thesubmission. Simply leave the box unchecked if you don't want these providers. However if you want them, you have to place a link to them. You can do that withthe Reciprocal Link Manager. But make sure all links are present before thesubmission.

c) Security code providers.

A lot sites actually don't like automated submissions as it often gets abused by spam bots. They display an image with numbers or chars on it that you have to enter to proof that you are a human. So if you don't want to fill them, you have to choices.Either you hire someone else to do that for you (e.g. http://www.decaptcher.com ) or you simply skip the submission to the sites when you uncheck the box.

d) Alternative categories

Of course not every site uses the same categories as defines in your pad file. Youcan define them here. Simply leave that out and the program asks you at the end of the submission to fill categories for sites where no matching one was found.

Once you have prepared all, you will be able to start the submission by simply hitting OK.

If you have chosen to submit to “image code providers”, you will probably see a screen as above.Just fill the codes and press ENTER or the OK button. You will only see the codes where theinternal analysis of the images failed and where also the captcha service that you might have usedfailed. At the bottom you see how many captchas are waiting to get filled. The button “Analyseimage codes and prefill” will use the internal analysis function to fill the codes but with a lessaccurate algorithm.

If you use a captcha service like decaptcher.com and you still get a lot of captchas to fill, you

should higher the timeout value in settings to give the service more time to analyze your codes andmaybe also enable toe option to only submit one captcha to the service at a time.

At the end of the submission, you will be asked to fill categories for providers where no matchingcategory was found. You can do that while clicking into the Category Class column, or by simplyusing “Fill by Mask”. When using the “Fill by Mask” function it will search all categories if theymatch a certain entered mask. In this case we search for all categories with “Image” in it. A Boxwill get displayed to you where you can chose the categories that might match your expectationsand assign them to your alternative categories.

Now you are done with the submission.

This dialog will appear when all is done, well almost.

As written earlier, you will get a lot of emails now with verification links that you have to click toget the software listed. If you don't click the links, it was a wast of time to submit to them. So youcan now either log into your email client and click every link on your own, or simply use the “E-Mail Validation Tool”.

You have two options to chose how to parse emails.

a) Only get emails

This will load the emails from your email provider and parse for links while leavingall emails untouched on your email server

b) Get and delete email if link was found

As you might guess, the emails where a verification link was found get deleted fromthe server. You should chose this as you will not need the emails anymore once thelink has been found and listed in the box.

So the links are there. Now click “Open all checked URLs” and the verification process is finishedand so your site submission. FINALLY!

Manual Submission

A manual submission is almost the same as when you load the site in your browser and fill the

fields. Well almost, as our program will fill the fields for you whenever it is possible. Usually youonly have to fill the image code or category before pressing the “Submit” button on the page. At theright you will see the possible variables you can set (use right mouse button to copy/paste).

Config → Misc

Here you just define what happens when you click on a provider, chose the language of the programand define the default login/password to get used. When you have already accounts on certain sitesthat you want to use in our program, click on “Manage Accounts” and enter the data there to notcreate another account for the sites.

If your internet connection requires to use a proxy, or if you want to use random proxies, you haveto define them here.

The timeout for HTML-Requests will define when to gives up on a provider to wait for a reply.

Simultaneous submissions defines how many submissions are done at a time when using theautomatic submission. You should be careful with the two settings as to many submissions at the

same time might slow down everything as to much bandwidth is used. The settings in thescreenshot should be good for everyone.

Download preview for providers : This tries to create a screenshot of the webpage when you click ona provider. That's not required at all and many people would like to disable it as its just useless

bandwidth and only improved the GUI a bit.

Config → E-Mail

Some providers will only accept submissions by email. So you have to enter the email settings hereif you want a submission to those providers. If you also want to use the “Email verification tool”,you should also fill out the data for the pop3 server.Unfortunately we can't give you the details what to fill there as each email provider requiresdifferent settings. You can find them when having a look in your default email client or bysearching online with “@youremailhost pop3”.

Config → Captchas

Captchas or image codes get displayed during the submission if the program was unable to fill themout automatically. Unfortunately it is very difficult nowadays to detect captchas without a humaneye. Still it is possible to automate the things if you make usage of so called external captchaanalysis. You can chose between many different systems. The most common one is probablyDeCaptcher.

Link Report

Once you are done with the submission, you still don't know if your software actually appears onthe site or not. And its a pain to open all the providers URL and search for your link. You can nowautomate that as well with Main Menu → Tools → Link Report.

It will try to search for your link with two methods. One is using the providers own search engine, the other will spider the whole site and check each link and sub category.

After you finished this, you can correct the submission status or remove the providers from your reciprocal link manager when using the right mouse button on such a provider.

Proxy List

A proxy is not only required if you can't get online without one (firewall problems), but also if youwant to hide your IP. You can either buy a private proxy or use a public one. Public proxies can be

found automatically as well. You just have to note that some of these public proxies might not bestable and go online/offline anytime. So if you have a list of possible proxies, check them beforeyou start the submission (also possible within the software).

Reciprocal Link Manager

The reciprocal Link Manager makes it easy for you to place back links before the submission.

First you have to define a template so that the site design will look just like your webpage. Simplymake sure somewhere in the source you have %linkdata% placed. Thats the point where the linkswill get inserted.

Another important parameter is the “ Resulting URL ” where you have to place the parameter %page%. In the example above you see that on each site we will just put 25 links.

Link 26 will be on page http://www.EDIT-ME.com/link-2.html

You can put all links on one page as well, but its not really recommended as search engines don'tlike pages with a lot external links on it. The 25 links on one page as in the sample is a good value.

When the template is ready, you can add as many reciprocal links as you want. You are also notrestricted to links in the programs database. You can add custom links here as well.

By the popup menu in the list, you can do other things like checking for a link to your site on that

provider. The final step would be to Generate the actual html pages and upload them to your server.

Remarks

Submission problems

We are aware that some providers are not working at the moment. We will removethem on a later update if there is no change in the provider configuration.

Updates

We update the software on a regular basis (several updates a month). Anyway thesoftware is intelligent enough to recognize changes in providers submission form andreact on it by itself. Thats why we don't update as often as you think it would berequired.

Prices

The software requires a lot manual work to have it up to date. That's why we had tomake it monthly and yearly licenses (a lifetime license is however possible as well).

New Submission sites

We do our best to add new providers on each update (usually more than 10 on eachupdate). However if you have an interesting site please let us know ( [email protected] ).

We at GSA have developed this tool mainly for our self to marked our other tools and thought that this is something others might enjoy. If you have any questions or feature requests please contact us. We are always open for new ideas.
