GS2 and GS3 cannot be installed on thesame machine.

The GS3performance file contains manynew parameters not found in GS2. If youopen any GS2performances in GS3, save theGS3versions separately do not overwritethe GS2 versions unless you have thembacked up.

Performance files do not restore correctlywhen saved while a DSP Station channel

is solod. Clear all solos before saving aperformance.

DSP Station Insert FX must be added/re-moved in order it is only possible to removethe most recently loaded FX.

DSP Station Dynamics & EQ channel stripFX produce a small click when enabled/dis-abled and their settings are modifying thesignals gain.

If a stacked instrument .gsi file is loadedthat contains instruments that are already

loaded, they will be in the wrong stack or-der.

GSI performances built when the entire Giga-Piano-II .gig file is loaded, load with extrainstances of GigaPulse. The workaroundis to load the individual instrument fromwithin the GigaPiano-II .gig file and buildyour .gsi performance from that.

In order for the correct sound to always beheard on FX coupled instruments (GigaPulseencoded instruments), the ability to bypass

FX in the MIDI Mixer is currently disabled. This is in contradiction to the FX buttonbehavior noted in the GS3Manual.

Do not use Save as on a GigaPulse encodedinstrument from the GigaStudio InstrumentEditor. Doing so may cause the instrumentto be unplayable.

You may notice that the MIDI Mixer metersstick on when GigaPiano-II is loaded butnot being played. GigaPiano-II has a samplethat is triggered for damper OFF (D#8) anda different one for damper ON (D8). It onlysends the note off for the opposite samplewhen the damper is pressed or released, soeffectively there is always a note ON.

DSP Station channel strip dynamics are notavailable on non-SSE processors.

DSP Station channel strip EQs are not avail-able on non-SSE processors.

Do not change hardware buffer settingswhile GigaStudio is playing audio. Doingso may crash GigaStudio.

Sometimes instruments within a Gig fileappear in the wrong order. The workaround

is to rebuild the QuickSound database. If convolution encoded instrument is copied

onto a GS3 system without its associated.gx99 file, a No Banks Found error mes-sage will be displayed upon loading theinstrument. Always be sure to keep .gx99files together with their .gig files.

    GigaStudio 3 Application

Following are known issues at the time of GigaStudio 3.04shipping that you may run into:

64-bit processors are not supported at this

time. Testing has revealed an incompatibility be-

tween GS3and the SanDisk USB SmartMediaDrive. This drive should not be connectedto your GS3computer.

GSIF-2 MIDI is only supported on a devicewhen it is also acting as your audio interface.Only a combination audio/MIDI interfacecan act as a GSIF-2 audio/MIDI interfacewith GigaStudio.

Due to the wide variety of PC hardware, there

may be some systems that exhibit instabilitywhen Hyper Threading is enabled. If youfind your system unstable with HT, disableit and send us detailed system specs and aDiag report to TASCAM Operational Support.Further improvements are planned to bemade in this area.

    Hardware Compatibility

    Third-Party Software Compatibility

    Known incompatible VST plug ins:

    Steinberg Tools One

    Yamaha Vocal Rack

NI Absynth If this is on your GS3ma-chine, ensure that it is not in the GigaStu-dio 3 VST search path. (NOTE: GS3doesnot support VST instruments)

    Properly implemented GSIF2 drivers are

required for GigaStudio to recognize namedaudio ports such as Analog or ADAT.

GigaStudio MIDI ports do not appear in thePro Tools sequencer. The workaround is touse ReWire MIDI ports.

Do not stop the audio engine while in Re-Wire mode. If you do, the ReWire devicewill have to be re-initialised.

Steinbergs Clean 5cannot be installed onthe same computer as GigaStudio 3.

Cakewalk Project 5cannot be installed onthe same computer as GigaStudio 3.

Do not run Microsoft Outlook on the samecomputer as GigaStudio 3.

Ahead Nero InCD cannot currently be in-stalled on the same computer as GigaStudio

    3. Note that this only applies to the InCDcomponent of Nero, the other components ofthe Nero package do not exhibit problems.Symptoms of conflict with InCD includeless than optimal amounts of kernel RAMavailable to GigaStudio.

GigaPiano II and GigaPiano II LE

If you hear popping in the audio as the sus-tain damper pedal is moved up and down:

Try increasing the audio buffer size in yoursound card driver (See your sound card docu-mentation for details on changing GSIF buf-fer size). In the GigaPiano-II and GigaPiano-IILE, the dynamic damping of the convolu-tion model causes momentary changes inthe real time computing cpu loading. On

some sound cards, if the buffer setting istoo small, the audio can become overrunwith momentary changes in read/writeposition. A more robust setting (i.e. largerhardware buffer size) is recommended forincreased reliability in the audio output.
