In October 2007, Ms. Johnson joined PTC Therapeutics, a biotech company located in South

Plainfield, New Jersey, as a Contract Associate in their Biology Department. In April of 2008,she became a full-time employee as a Research Associate II, and was promoted in January 2010

to Associate Scientist I. Ms. Johnson has worked on several targets within the genetic disordersgroup in an effort to find an effective oral treatment for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Her 

significant contributions to these programs helped maintain NIH funding for the geneticdisorders targets. Prior to completing her education, Ms. Johnson worked as a Laboratory

Technician at the USUHS Department of Pathology, where she conducted data analysis,generated and purified recombinant protein and performed in vitro assays, maintained a

laboratory notebook, performed bacterial and mammalian cell culture, and presented data duringlab meetings. She also worked as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Biological Sciences

at Hampton University.

Ms. Johnson received a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology from HamptonUniversity in 2003, and a Master of Science degree in Molecular Pathobiology from Uniformed

Services University of the Health Sciences in 2007. She has published a Master of Sciencethesis, and contributed to a published scientific study. Ms. Johnson is the pagemaster for the

USUHS graduate student webpage, and is a member of the Beta Kappa Chi Scientific Honor Society.

Jeffery S. Pollack, MDMedical Director 

Dr. Jeffrey Pollack is an experienced physician, and has held hospital privileges at Shore

Memorial Hospital since 1984, where he served as an Active Staff Physician. From 1991 to

2004, Dr. Pollack served as the Medical Director of Ocean Point Healthcare. He hasdemonstrated expertise in symptom control and pain management as a primary care physician.Managing symptoms from any and all disease States and medical conditions is a daily aspect of 

his medical practice. Dr. Pollack also has experience in working with the New JerseyDepartment of Health and Senior Services. In addition to the usual interactions that a NJ

 practicing physician experiences, as Medical Director at Ocean Point for many years, he becamefamiliar and capable in understanding the needs and issues of the DHSS and working them in

order to comply with all regulatory control, both personally as a physician, and also as applicableto the institution. Furthermore, Dr. Pollack has expertise in addictive medicine, and served as a

staff member at The Lighthouse in-house substance addiction treatment center. As a DATA2000-certified physician, he routinely treats opiate addiction currently in the office, as well as

 provides comprehensive medical treatment for other addictions within the normal scope of his practice. All of the debilitating diseases that qualify for medical Cannabis are within the scope

of his medical practice. Dr. Pollack’s past positions include Medical Director of Egg Harbor Township and Galloway Township, Physician on Staff at Linwood Convalescent Center and

Meadowview Nursing Home, and a position at Lighthouse Recovery Center.

Dr. Pollack’s organization and leadership roles include serving on the Atlanticare MedicalAdvisory Committee and the Atlanticare Board of Trustees for five years. He was the Medical

Director of Ocean Pointe Healthcare Center, President of the Atlantic County Medical Society, aDelegate to the New Jersey Medical Society, a Delegate to the American Medical Society, and

the Medical Director of Shore Health Park. He currently serves as President of Shore InternalMedicine P.A., a position he has held since its founding in 1991. In the last seven years, Dr.

Pollack has refocused his active leadership roles, with the exception of his personal medical practice, in order to spend more time with his family.

Dr. Pollack earned his medical degree from Universidad Nordestana. He also holds a Bachelor

  Nicholas B. Ganaway

 Nicholas Ganaway has spent 42 years as an expert in the fields of Telecommunications and

Telephony and 25 years in the fields of Educational Technology, Computer Networking,

Classroom Technology Design, Audio/Visual Technology, Security Infrastructure, Video-Conferencing, and Mass Notification Systems for institutions of higher education. As a ProjectManager for The Bell System/A.T.&T, he designed and implemented communications systems

for three of Atlantic City’s Casino-Hotels. As Director of Telecommunications and Audio/VisualServices for Atlantic Cape Community College in Mays Landing, NJ, he has established

standards for classroom technology, managed projects ranging from the design of classrooms for use in Distance Education to designing instructional technology and technology infrastructure for 

new campuses and campus buildings. To insure the safety and security of the students and staff at ACCC, Mr. Ganaway introduced and implemented Mass Notification Systems to insure the

college conforms to the tenets of the Cleary Act.

Mr. Ganaway holds memberships in the New Jersey Educational Technology Group for Higher Education (NJEDGE), the Association of College and University Telecommunications

Councilwoman, Judy Ward

Judy Ward was very active in the school system and recreational activities and most notable

Pleasantville Pal and the African American Club at South Main Street School. Along with being

a mentor for many of the youth, Judy volunteered to serve on several school committees such as

the Pleasantville Education, the South Main Street School Planning Team and (PACT)Pleasantville and Absecon Coming Together, formed to bridge the two school systems. Judy

retired from Verizon after 30 years of employment in 2003. She has been a

member of Local 1012 for over 30 years. In 2004 she successfully ran for the 2nd Ward

City Council seat becoming the 3rd female to serve on city council in the city of 

Pleasantville. She is currently serving her 3rd term is dedicated and takes her position

very serious. Councilwoman Ward was Mayor Pro Tempore for four years, 2006 through

2009. She presently chairs the Community Relations Committee and is very active in

the community. She is chair of the Senior Citizens Advisory Board and enjoys the trips

and gatherings she plans for the senior citizens. Judy serves on the Finance and

Recreation Committee and is an alternate for the Planning and Development

Committee. In addition to being a Board Member of Atlantic Human Resources and thePleasantville Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ), Judy is an Elder for the Rites of Passage

and a member of Women’s Leadership Initiative for United way. She is a lifetime member

of the NAACP and honored to be the Honorary Chairperson of the Pleasantville Cancer

Initiative. She is the liaison between the city and the Pleasantville School System. She is

Vice Chair of the Atlantic County Democratic Committee and a member of the

Pleasantville Democratic Club. She is 3rd Vice President of the Atlantic County League

of Municipalities. She has served on the Sewer and Public Works Committees. She

looks forward to seeing the joy on the faces of the children at the toy and bicycle

giveaway each Christmas season sponsored by the Hiram Abiff Lodge #16, where

every child walks away with at least one gift. She is a dedicated supporter of Jersey

Shore Boy Scout Council and has been awarded the prestigious Taft McKenzie statue.Judy is a member of the Pleasantville Municipal & has co-coordinated with the Atlantic

County Alliance and held three Town Hall Forums: Underage Drinking, Drugs and Gang

Violence, and Prescription Drug Abuse. She was a recipient of the 2007 Alliance

Volunteer of the Year Award. She was the Merit Mother of the Year 2009 and became

the first female to be City Council President in the City of Pleasantville in 2010. She is

now serving her second years as council president.

Councilwoman Ward takes pride in being recognized for her position as a public servant

with the many awards and certificates of appreciation she has received. However, she

sincerely enjoys what she is doing and is naturally a people person, so it is all done

without effort. As dedicated as Councilwoman Ward is to her commitment to the city and

the community, her motto has always been and remains, “ God and Family First.” Herfamily and true friends have been there for her long before politics and will be there long

after she’s done serving in office.
