Mission Statement

To create a Bike Rental Program to provide a quicker, easier, efficient and reliable means for On-Campus student transportation

Operation Plan

Place and load bike parking racks at strategic locations on campus.

Lock each bike with a lock that is opened by an A&M Campus ID. Upon bike removal an initial usage charge is incurred, and upon

replacement at another bike parking rack a charge based on rental time is incurred.

Supply Plan

The abandoned bikes stored at a lot near Agronomy Road will be recycled for our bike base.

Parking racks, specialized locks with timers, bike lights and repair materials would have to be contracted.

Maintenance Plan

Supplies as well as students working as bike repairers would be paid for using funds obtained through bike charges.

Customers & Competitors Anyone with an A&M Campus

ID will be permitted to use the bike rental service.

The current Texas A&M Transportation System is a theoretical competitor, but as both programs will be owned by the University the budget will be shifted as is most profitable to the University.

Outside bike sellers will have to lower their prices in order to prevent students from using us as renters, but they can only cut profits so much before it becomes a loss.

Cost-Benefit Analysis

As bikes are already owned, the costs will be very low as it will consist of merely bike accessories, bike repairs, and payment for repair students.

This already low cost will be easily overcome by the fixed cost of bike rental (An example: $1 per day rentals are made) and a time-dependant fee (Such as $0.10 per 15 minutes, cumulative over multiple rentals per day)

Rates listed are arbitrary examples that would be altered based on what is found to be most efficient in terms of per use profit v. more uses to profit from

Societal Benefit The bike system will increase time for students

to commit to studying, working, or socializing, increase physical fitness, decrease bus pollution and overcrowding, provide cheap transportation to students unable to afford a bike, and generate revenue for the University.

In Conclusion: Our bike rental

program will provide an easy, efficient, and quick mode of transportation for students and staff alike. Not only will it help individuals, by generating revenue for the university it will increase funds for other existing programs to improve the standards of education. Thanks and Gig ‘Em!
