On your first day at school:

Your host family will make sure you know how to get to the city-centre and our central meeting point called the Spire (pictured on the right of the map)

You should meet at this point at 08:30am

An ISI representative will meet you here by 08:45am and bring your group to the school

Make sure you ask your host family where your bus/rail stop is to return home – use the map provided

On your day of departure 1. Please make sure you know what time you will be collected and your flight departure time.

2. Please make sure you inform your host family of these details

3. If your departure transfer is by private bus, your host family will drop you to the meeting point (pictured below). This is the same host family meeting point as your day of arrival.

4. If your departure transfer is by taxi, a taxi will arrive at your host family at an agreed time. The taxi fare is paid by ISI, but you may need to sign a form to confirm you arrived safely. Each taxi will collect a number of students so please be patient if it does not arrive on time. However, if you have not been collected within two hours of departure please contact +353 87 786 4937 (dial 00 353 87 786 4937) immediately and inform your host family.

Important Safety Guidelines during your stay in Ireland: 1. Obey instruction from ISI staff and your leader.

2. Always carry your mobile phone, fully charged, in credit, and switched on.

3. ALWAYS carry

a. host family address and number

b. group leader phone number

c. ISI phone numbers (below). PUT THESE NUMBERS IN YOUR PERSONAL MOBILE

4. Students are not allowed to hang out in public parks (i.e. green areas near your host family house) or use public parks as a short

cut – please tell students to use main streets only. Also we ask students not to hang out near DART stations. Public parks and

DART stations can be dangerous place in the evening. O’Connell Street area can also be dangerous after 7pm.

5. Students should NOT carry their ID documents & passports – please ask them to just carry photocopies. Do NOT carry large

amounts of cash (Euro 50 max).

6. Belongings like backpacks wallets bags cameras phones etc should be kept safe, please remind students to take care. NEVER put

your wallet in you back pack. Be careful when queuing. Watch your back!

7. If you get lost in Dublin in the evening, you MUST take a taxi home. If you have no money, you can call your host family and ask

them to pay the taxi on arrival. You can then give back the money to the host family later. If this doesn’t work, go to a well known

place…i.e. Trinity College entrance OR McDonalds, O’Connell Street and CALL ISI (numbers below)….and we will help you.

8. We want you to have a good time, please remind students that they are in a capital city & to exercise common sense at all times.

Warning: Foreign students attract attention in the city!!! Never walk alone. Avoid empty streets. Don’t talk to Irish teenage

‘gangs’. Don’t get into argument/fight with Irish teenagers. Don’t get into a car with a stranger. Remember you actions could have consequences for another member of your group.

Group Leaders: If there is a social activity that means students will not be home by 7.00pm please let ISI. Students aged 17 or less,

are not allowed to come to ISI evening parties (in pubs).

Rules for students aged 17 or under: The following is prohibited: 1. Consuming any alcoholic beverage or entering a pub (unless accompanied by Group Leader/ISI Staff before 9pm). You cannot

attend ISI evening parties in pubs.

2. Taking any type of illegal drug or un-prescribed medicine; associating or having contact with any person involved in or associated

with un-prescribed or illegal drugs. (You must inform iStudy International if you are taking any prescription medication).

3. Staying away from the host family/residential school overnight without permission from

- iStudy International and

- the host family and

- your parents/guardian (in writing)

4. Being absent from school without permission

5. Leaving the school premises without permission

6. Travelling outside your residential area without the permission of iStudy International and your parents/guardian

7. Inviting friends to host family/residential accommodation without prior permission from the host family and iStudy International

8. Any acts which might cause injury to someone or damage to someone’s property

9. Disturbing class or behaving inappropriately or unacceptably during class

10. Breaking curfew. Curfew of 9pm….We ask all our students to leave the city centre BEFORE 6.30pm be home at their host

families by 7.00pm each evening for dinner. Students cannot leave the host family house after 9.00pm Sunday to Thursday or

after 10.00pm on Friday and Saturday.

11. If you are late, call your host family to let them know why.
