It is a hamlet of Yenkepalle Gram Panchayat(GP) in
Pudur Mandal of Vikarabad District
The village was established in the year 1980 by
relocating Chenchus from different forest villages
The population of the village is 403
ST population: 85%
Literacy : 35%
Enrolment (Anganwadi & Primary school) = 50
Main crops : maize, tur, cotton , paddy
Locals being marginal farmers and landless laborers
The village is surrounded by large farm houses, golf
courses, dairy farms, rose gardens etc.
Cultural : Once the child gets married, the groom and the
bride must remain in a separate house
Government wants to rebuild the houses but they want
the house to be constructed at a new place afresh because
of this cultural practice
The Panchayat office : 3 Km away.
The nearest Bank : 10 Km away
Primary Health Centre (PHC) : 8 Km
Primary School : 3 Km
High School : 5 Km

There is lack of Protein intake across all ages and is very severe in
children and females and high malnutrition
Heavy reliance on quacks due to distant PHC
Heavy Alcoholism across genders and lack of deaddiction centers
Excess fluoride content in the water leading to Dental and bone diseases
High prevalence of anaemia in children(80%) and females(80-85%)
Lack of frequent check ups leading to more severe conditions
Lack of anti-natal awareness
Common cases of Cataract & Glaucoma
We visited 2 PHCs one in Chengumal and one in Pudur
Mandal
Both were clean, supply of medicines, good Lab etc.

These findings were obtained from the medical camp organized on
7th Nov 2017 ( 498 cases )
The doctors from general medicine, ortho, dental science, skin,
gynecology, ophthalmology and dietician were present
We requested the hospitals (Sri SAI Dental College & Mahavir
medical college) to adopt the villages
It was accepted and now every month they would visit the village
and follow up with the patients
Upon our request Mahavir Hospital has accepted to start a
deaddiction drive on every Tuesday.
Literacy rate = less than 35 %.
Primary school upto class III (Telugu Medium)
Total students 24 (10Girls and 14Boys)
Only 1 teacher (recruited last year before that no
teacher for 4 years)
Drinking water facility & toilets (separate for boys and
girls recently built)
Only one classroom and no benches in the school.
Mid Day Meal is well implemented.
Lack of funds
Teacher is purchasing the basic materials and giving
the students
Improper utilization of ITDA(Integrated tribal
development Agency) funds
PTR(Pupil teacher ratio) is 1:24 (RTE 1:30
recommended)
Brought the issue in light of District
administration
Requested the Tribal Officer to repair the
building to which he was in motion right away.
Brought awareness drive through the local people
like Sarpanch, MPDO, local villagers etc.
Educated local community including children
about Swaccha Bharat and sanitation .
Charity – donated on the behalf of MCR HRD
Institute OTs, sports equipment, notebooks,
stationery etc.
More than 80% people had Jan Dhan accounts.
People never used their RuPay debit cards
Their accounts were not linked with MGNREGA job cards.
Major accounts were not accessed since they were
opened.
Banking forms are not available in local language.
There was no BC (Banking Correspondent) for that
particular Gram Panchayat.
We organized a financial literacy camp along with SBI,
Vikarabad and Telangana Gramin Bank.
Bank account of the remaining people were opened.
Upon our request, chief manger of SBI Vikarabad agreed to
appoint a BC (Banking Correspondent) for that service area.
He also agreed to dedicate a particular Friday in a month to
inculcate banking habits among the Chenchus and help
them in banking transactions.
The people who had grievances were written
recommendation letters to expedite their process of
redressal eg. Signature mismatch.
None of the locals had active MGNREGA job cards.
None have ever completed 100 days of work.
Over 95 % people are landless laborers. Thus they cannot get credit from PACS.
Over 85 % people did not have Pakka Makan.
The dropout rate of student was very high that’s leading to unorganized employment.
Seasonal nature of work leads to out migration of youth.
Occupational pattern: mainly agriculture laborers and daily wage workers.
Food security scheme is implemented well by the government.
Updation of MGNREGS list and issue of fresh job cards with the support of district administration
Skill development : a 3 day workshop to be organized with the help of NGO SWAYAM SHAKTI ENTREPRENEURS FOUNDATION & district administration ( November end )
bringing the people under ASHRA pension scheme
distribution of poultry and their feed under ITDP scheme
making the villagers aware of kitchen farming and ill effects of alcoholism
people made aware about DEEPAM and UJJWALA schemes
VISAKHA industries is constructing 3 model houses for the poorest of the poor
No household has toilet expect one house.
People were unaware about sanitation.
A sanitation awareness program was organized with
the help of district administration and culture
department of Telangana government.
Cleanliness drive was conducted around the school
premises.
A plantation drive was organized at the village under
the project Haritha Haram.
TCS under its CSR is constructing toilets for each
household free of cost.
