Soc (Econ) EldersGroup Highfields Centre is one of sixteen partners delivering the Leicester Ageing together programme which is a five-year Big Lottery funded project to reduce social isolation amongst people over the age of 50 in Leicester. Our Elders Group enables isolated and lonely elders from within Highfields and the adjacent areas to be able to access a regular drop-in and to make friends, engage in arts, sports and other lifelong learning activities. Individuals attending these sessions will also be able to access the Centres IAG and welfare rights services, with the former promoting their active engagement as local community members and the latter, promoting their economic well- being. Elders’ Group

Business Support

We provide bespoke business support to

pre-starts, start-ups and established businesses.

Whether you’ve just had an idea you want to

develop into a business or are running your own

business and want to develop and grow, we are

able to help you.

Sports Services/Facilities

We provide a quality sports service which aims to

meet the sports and health needs of the local

community and develop opportunities to increase

participation in sports at all levels and all ages.

Venue Hire

We offer a variety of excellent rooms for venue hire throughout the year.

We operate a seven day week programme, with core and non-core hours, linked to our pricing schedules for all room hire.

We accommodate any reasonable requests throughout the year (subject to staff availability).

Main Hall – accommodates 210 closely seated, with 57 in the Bena Balunda Lounge and it’s an excellent space for weddings, parties, mendhis, conferences, job fairs, social and cultural events. Prices range from £40.00 to £90 per hour. Table and chairs are provided free of charge for all events: 32 long tables / 12 round tables.

Training Rooms (e.g. Edwards Lounge) – We offer training/meeting rooms with projector/screens and free Wi-Fi at very competitive prices.

Talent Match

On Wednesday afternoons, we provide a drop in session for young people aged 18 – 24 years, targeting individuals who are not in education, employment or training (NEET). This session includes recreational activities, multi sports activities, job search, training opportunities, 1 to 1 support and support in CV writing.

Advice Service

We provide FREE, CONFIDENTIAL, IMPARTIAL AND INDEPENDENT ADVICE to the local communities to access their rights and entitlements (accredited by Advice Quality Standard, Matrix and Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner).

Types of advice we offer:

-Advice on Benefits

-Information about Housing

-Help with form filling

-Advice on Immigration and Nationality (fee payable)

-Advice on Debt Matters

-Advice on Education

Advice Sessions: Monday s: 12:30pm-3:30pm (appointment only) Tuesdays: 9:30am-12:30pm (drop-in-session and tickets provided to first 10 people)

Youth Activities

As a member of the Leicester Youth Consortia, our mission is to deliver the best possible outcomes for young people. We deliver three sessions for young people aged 12 – 19 years. The sessions promote the personal and social development of young people through creative & recreational activities, discussions & debates, sports, arts and trips.

Youth Sessions: Mondays: 6:30pm – 8:00pm – Mixed session

Fridays: 6:30pm – 8:30pm – Mixed Session

Saturdays: 11:30am – 1:30pm – Girls only Session

Our Sports Facilities

- The Osman Sports Hall (4 badminton court

length)

- A state of the art Aerobics and Dance Studio

- A state of the art Fitness Suite

Other sports activities include: Table Tennis: This activity is very popular with all ages and gender, using 8 tables and it only cost £1 per person. The sessions are held on Wednesdays at 6pm. Football Training: This session has been running for several years for children aged from 5 to 12 year olds. All those that have left due to age have gone on to league clubs throughout the city.
