Why Adjectives Matter in Writing
Adjectives can provide important details . Predicate adjectives help you paint pictures with words. You can’t gesture in writing the way you can in a face-to-
face conversation. But you can use demonstrative pronouns as adjectives to ‘’point to’’ people, and possessive pronouns in order to make relationships.
Adjectives describe the world around us and matter. Adjectives can have many different connotation, and can be positive, negative, or neutral.
Predicate Adjectives
An adjective that follows a linking verb and describes the verb’s subject
Can follow linking verbs other than forms to be Ex: The airplanes were strange. “Airplanes” is the subject and “strange” is the predicate adjective and describes airplanes. “Were” is the linking verb.
