USING THE GROUND SPIKE GC0411 GROUND SPIKE Model No: CHT671 / PART NO: 1801671 Threaded Ring 1. Move the hinged arms to a horizontal position and push the tip of the spike into the ground. 2. Screw the spike clockwise into the ground up to the top of the screw thread, using the hinged arms for greater leverage. • Never use blows of any kind to drive the spike into the ground. 3. Insert the pole or post you want to support into the ground spike. 4. Lift the hinged arms and latch levers up and ensure the pole/post is upright and in the desired position. 5. Tighten the threaded ring to lock the hinged arms in position. 6. Push down the latch levers to remove any play in the hinged arms and grip the pole securely. • In strong winds, it is advisable to remove an umbrella or similar item likely to create undue strain on the ground spike.
