Barnes, Ettie – Passed away on Sunday Mar. 31, 2013, in her 102nd year at Northridge LTCin Oakville, ON. Born in Keels, BB, 1 of 6 sisters born toMary Jane & Richard Mesh. Pre-deceased by husbandGermain & sisters Clara, Fanny, Laura & Sadie & their hus-bands; parents Mary Jane & Richard & Anastashia (AuntStash) & Samuel Yetman, with whom she spent herteenage years in Princeton. She was also proud of hernumerous nephews & nieces who reside from coast tocoast in Canada.
She will be missed by sons Samuel, wife Margaret &Winston, wife Karen, sister Dorothy Hodder of PortBlandford, grandsons Jeffrey, Glenn, Christopher, wifeDawn, Michael, wife Anna & her son Robert. She was thegreat-grandmother of Alexandra, Kimberly & Matthew &great-great grandmother of Logan.
The family thanks the staff at the Northtridge NursingHome for their kind & loving care over the past 2 years.Friends & family were welcomed on Friday, April 5, 2013 atthe McEachnie Funeral Home, Pickering Village, Ajax, ON(She had lived in the area for 27 years). A rousing cele-
bration of her life with reminiscences from son Sam, Ret. Rev. Bert Batstone, Grandsons Glenn &Chris & a violin solo of “Amazing Grace” by grandson Jeff. At the close of the service grandsonJeff fiddled the jig “I’se the By” (her favourite) to clapping & stamping of feet by almost 100 fam-ily & friends. Just the way she would have wanted it.
She had a long & interesting life that took her from Keels to Princeton, to Champney’s West. Fromthere to Montreal & the Toronto area where she was the life of the party at every opportunity.Although away from ‘The Rock’ for 64 years she visited often & was extremely proud of herNewfoundland heritage.
