Rooftop Solar PV – Viability

Basis / Assumptions

1. Unit cost indicated is applicable for ratings above 5kW

2. Grid Tariff of Rs.7/- per unit for Commercial and SPO Tariff of Rs.9/- per unit for Industries have been considered

3. DG Set fuel cost of Rs. 16 per unit has been arrived for computing viability, where solar PV with storage system (batteries) will be envisaged. When the DG sets are operated at part load, this could be upto Rs.22/- per unit

4. Computations are approximate. O&M Cost and battery replacement cost not considered. Also, tariff increase over the years are not accounted, as the same has been offset with the module degradation of 1% per year for first 10 years and 0.8% per year for next 10 years
