Background and Application Principle
Background The layout of the CPRI RF cable connection to the GRFU/DRFU slots is usually complex for field engineers.
To reduce the complexity, this material introduces a mapping principle between CRPI ports and slots to
satisfy the requirements of various scenarios. Used together with the GRFU/DRFU configuration principle
and slot planning principle, the application of this principle implements a comparatively fixed mapping
between the CPRI ports and the cell partition for future capacity expansion and maintenance. In addition,
a graphical configuration tool is developed to quickly output the configuration and connection diagram
for on-site project delivery.

Mapping Principle of the CPRI Ports - Single Cabinet
Mapping between CPRI ports
and slots:
Ports CPRI 0 to 5 on the GTMU
correspond to slots 0 to 5
where the
GRFUs/DRFUs are installed.
The CPRI port that corresponds
to an
empty slot need not be
connected. Mapping between cells and
slots in single-cabinet
configuration mode:
Slots 0 and 1 correspond to
Cell 1.
Slots 2 and 3 correspond to
Cell 2.
Slots 4 and 5 correspond to
Cell 3.

Mapping between CPRI ports and

Ports CPRI 0, 2, and 4 on the GTMU
correspond to slots 0, 2, and 4

the GRFUs/DRFUs are installed in
cabinet 0.
Ports CPRI 1, 3, and 5 on the GTMU
correspond to slots 0, 2, and 4
where
the GRFUs/DRFUs are installed in
cabinet 1.
Mapping between cells and slots in
double-cabinet configuration mode:
Slots 0 and 1 correspond to Cell 1.
Slots 2 and 3 correspond to Cell 2.
Slots 4 and 5 correspond to Cell 3.

Mapping between CPRI ports and slots:
Ports CPRI 0 and 1 are connected to
the
first cabinet.
Ports CPRI 2 and 3 are connected to
the
second cabinet.
Ports CPRI 4 and 5 are connected to
the
third cabinet.
The CPRI ports are connected to
slots 0
and 3 where the GRFUs/DRFUs are
installed in the cabinet that the
ports
correspond to. Other GRFUs/DRFUs
are
cascaded in order. Mapping between cells and slots in three-
cabinet configuration mode:

Benefit I Used together with the cell planning principle, the application of this
principle implements comparatively fixed cell partition
corresponding to the CPRI ports, thus implementing a clear cell
partition and simple data configuration. The recommended partition
of three cells is shown as follows:

Benefit II Star interconnection can be applied to the CPRI ports on all the modules so that
great change for the feeder connection is avoided during the capacity expansion. In a typical capacity expansion scenario, the configuration data is modified and the
services are not disrupted even if the CPRI networking mode is changed.
Reserve a slot for capacity expansion.
The corresponding port is also reserved.
