SPEAKER SERIES - ETHICAL LEADERSHIP

Proudly sponsored by:

Greg Latemore is Director of Latemore Consulting based in Brisbane. He specialises in leadership development, team building and one-on-one coaching. He is an Industry Fellow at The University of Queensland (UQ) Business School where he co-presents executive education programs. He is also a Course Co-ordinator with UQ School of Public Health.

COURSE OUTLINE:The imprisonment of Australian journalist, Peter Greste, in Cairo for 400 days and the recent massacre in Paris at Charlie Hebdo highlight how precious - and dangerous - ‘free speech’ is. What rights and responsibilities does one have as a journalist, cartoonist or citizen? What is an appropriate response if you disagree with such an exercise of freedom of expression? What are the implications for us as leaders who strive to do the right thing?

Accordingly, this Master Class will explore these issues:• The nature and history of free speech;• The PEACE model (problem/emotions/analysis/contemplation/equilibrium) (Marinoff 1999);• The ethical mind (Gardiner 2007)• Ethical leadership: respect others; serve others; show justice; manifest honesty; build

community (Northouse 2013)

Greg Latemore will facilitate a structured conversation around these issues. He hopes to find a deeper understanding of these complex issues with you, and to stimulate you to engage in your own ethical response.
