Chairman’s MessageDear Members
I thought I have written my last message in the April to June 2014 issue but the unexpected happened.
It was a big surprise that there was not a single nomination received for any of the posts in the Management Committee at the last Annual General Meeting held on 29 June 2014.
We were in a dilemma as the Club cannot function without a committee. After much deliberation, members present at the AGM voted that the outgoing committee remain for another term as they were in the opinion that they have done a good job for the past four years. On behalf of the committee and me, we thank you for the tremendous vote of confidence in us. We assure you that we will not rest on our laurels and in fact we are motivated to work even harder!
We will continue with VISION 5000 but the primary objective is to get the land lease renewed. There are many things we want to do to improve the Club but constrained by the uncertainty of the renewal of the land lease. Nevertheless, we will explore ways to
enhance the Club’s facilities for members’ comfort, safety and enjoyment where feasible and within means.
One project in mind is relocating the Jackpot Room to the Veranda Lounge as there were many feedbacks from older members that the current location is not elderly friendly as moving up and down the various flights of stairs was like having to climb a hill every time they visit. As the relocation will cost quite a sum, we decided to seek members’ feedback and support for the execution of this project via a survey.
With the lease reaching its end, recruiting new members is a huge challenge and sadly, there are also many members resigning. But rest reassured that we are committed and will continue to work to overcome any challenges that we have to face, with the Club and members’ interest in mind.
This year, for a change we will be having the Club’s Dinner & Dance on 31 December 2014 together with countdown for the New Year again after moving away from countdown for the past two years. We hope you will be able to join us and do sign up early as there are limited tables!
There are also many sports events organised by respective sports sections and we hope you will be able to participate and lend your support.
Being last issue for the calendar year, the Committee and I would like to take this opportunity to wish one and all Merry Christmas and may the year 2015 bring you good health and wealth!

Changi Beach Club’s wedding packages cater for a minimum of 40 guests to a maximum of 120 guests. Our packages vary from $68+ to $108+ per guest. It includes the rental of the event space, F&B catering/ sit down lunch/dinner and complimentary 2D1N stay for the couple.
Booking and Confirmation
Bookings must be made at least 2 months in advance and preferred dates are subject to availability. Upon confirmation, a deposit of 50% is payable and full payment should be made upon check out.

The GymThe Club has a fully equipped gym with a wide range of equipment for a complete workout! The equipment caters to all ages, genders and needs. Male junior members can train before NS enlistment and male members can keep fit for their IPPT. Female members can tone their muscles, keep fit for general well-being. If you need a personal trainer, our qualified long serving gym instructor, Rahmad is at your service for a small fee.
Regular exercises help to improve one’s physical and mental well-being and at the same time may ward off some illnesses. Besides our brains, our body needs exercises too!
HeartOur heart needs exercise and can be achieved through cardiovascular exercises on the treadmill, elliptical trainer and stationary bike. These exercises helps to strengthen the heart and also burn fats and calories which may help to reduce or prevent heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, stroke, some cancers, type 2 diabetes and obesity. Cardio exercises also improve sleep patterns, relieving stress thus promoting a more positive attitude and energy levels.
Before starting any regime of exercise, make sure you know what you are doing as overexerting yourself may do more harm than good! It is also

Equipment available in the gym provides strength training to build lean muscle mass as it tones and sculpts your body which also boosts metabolism and weight-training machines can be used to intensify your workout. Leg press strengthens and tones the quadriceps and gluteus (buttock muscle) while the lateral pull-down apparatus strengthens the back. The chest press works the front of the shoulders and chest and the overhead press machine works the front, top and side of the shoulders.
