Duringthisholidayseasonweincorporateconversationsaboutgivingtoothersandhavinggratitude.Realizingthatthetemperaturesareplummetingandtheleavesarefallingwethoughtitwouldbethoughtfultomakebirdfeedersandhangthemuponthebaretreesoutdoors.Thebirdswouldhavefoodtoeatduringthiscoldspell.Weglazedourpineconeswithbirdseedandattacheddecorativeribbons.Wehungthemupoutsideofourclassroomonthehilleastofourplayground.Wealsoenjoyedthebook,THEQUILTMAKER’SGIFTbyJeffBrumbeau.Thisisabeautifulbookaboutarichandgreedykingthathaseverythingbutisstillnothappy.Theillustrationsarerichandcolorful.Thestoryistrulybeautiful.Thebookisatimelessandworthwhiletreasuretosharewithyourchildren.

decoratingexperience.Shavingcream,foodcoloring,coloredmarkertops,pipercleaners,beads,sparkles,buttons,corks,straws,etc.AnythingandeverythingweusedinourBearCubartcentertoembellishanawardwinningcake.Somechildrenworkcarefullyandmethodicallyonthecakeproject.Otherchildrensmeartheicingandloadupthetrim.Itissomuchfuntowatchthechildrenfigureouthis/herspecificdesign.

talkingaboutSURPRISESANDCELEBRATIONSafterourreturnfromourThanksgivingbreak.Wedefinitelyneededsomethingtotakeourmindsoffofthecoldandgloomyweatheroutsidelastweek.WestartedoffwelcomingournewfriendREXGEORGE.Rexiscertainlynostrangertoourschool.HehasenjoyedbeingaPandaBearintheafternoonclasssincethebeginningoftheschoolyear.Inaddition,RexhasbeenattendingtheBearTracksmorningprogramwithColleen.WemadeaspecialsurprisesnacktowelcomeRex.Rexisaperfectadditiontoourteam.Ourfriend,MirreturnedtoTurkeytobewithhisrelativesbackhome.

BeforewemoveforwardwithadditionalinformationwewanttotakeamomenttothankallofourBearCubfamiliesforyourparticipationinourDad’sDay,Grandparents,RelativeandSpecialFriendseventbeforeourThanksgivingbreak.WehadaphenomenalturnoutandweareproudofourBearCubclass!THANKYOUFORTAKINGTHETIMETOVISITUS.Thisspecialeventissuchabighitwiththechildrenwhentheygettosharetheirschoollifewithafamilymemberand/orfriend,

OurBearCubsarebusythisweekwithseasonalprojectsanddiscussionsaboutholidaypreparationsandplans.ThetimingofourtriptoNewCitySchooltosee“TheSneetches”comesataperfecttimeonourschoolcalendar,Wednesday,December17th(lastdayofschoolbeforeourholidaybreak).Theplayisastory/musicalwrittenbyDr.Suess.Theplayisaboutbeingtolerantandacceptingofeveryone.ThetriptoNewCitySchoolisatraditionatourschoolandagreatlearningexperience.WemusthaveallpermissionslipssignedandreturnedbyDecember16th.Mostofyouhavereturnedthepermissionslip–thankyou.Allparentsareinvitedtoattend(nopressure).Wedogettorideonabigyellowschoolbus.Pleaseletusknowifyouwillbeattending.Youarewelcometodriveandmeetusattheschool.Theplayisabout45minuteslong.Pleasehaveyourchildusethe“potty”athomebeforecomingtoschoolonthatday.Themorningisexcitingforallofus.

ManyofyouhaveaskedaboutSHOWANDSHARE.WewillstartSHOWANDSHAREwhenwereturnfromourHolidayBreak.WescheduleitonFridays.OurfirstSHOWANDSHAREwillbeonFriday,January9th,2015(wow,thatsoundssofaraway).Yourchildmaybringsomething(itmustfitinhis/herbackpack)tosharewiththeclass.SharingmeansyoumayshowitduringthisdesignatedtimeonFridays.Theitemdoeshavetostayinthebackpackuntilitistimetoshowit.Wedotrytobecarefulwithhometoys.Ourgoalistohavetheitemreturnhomeinthesamecondition(weknowyouunderstand).Wemakealittlestageatcircle.Eachchildhasanopportunitytomovetothestageandtalkaboutwhattheybroughttosharewiththeclass.Thisisa“choice”.Ifachilddoesnotwanttodothisactivityitistotallyokay.Sometimes,achildlikestoseewhatthisisallaboutbeforetheyparticipate.And,sometimes,achildwouldliketohaveSHOWANDSHAREbeadailyactivity.
