Greetings and goodbyesDeutschland v. USA
Formal or Informal?
• In Deutschland, the greeting we use depends on how familiar you are with the other person.
• If you do not know them, or for adults or people of authority, you should be formal.
• If the other person is a friend, family member or peer, you can be informal.
• This is different than in the US, where we are always informal.
