and after high school she attended Old Dominion University, where

In addition to her educational background, however, Ms.

Campbell’s love of history is borne of experiences gained in travel

to countries, states and cities of historical significance.

In addition to teaching, Ms. Campbell has used her expertise and

passion for history as a small business owner specializing in vintage

pieces from her private collections, which even led her into working

in various capacities in the fashion industry for several years.

In 2014, Ms. Campbell made the choice to move to Jacksonville

with her twin boys, Zane and Gabe, and to return to her first love—

teaching.

Mr. Mark Tanner is in his eighth year of teaching at Greenwood

School and has served our students in a variety of valuable roles.

Mr. Tanner teaches high school and middle school band and music

courses and high school chorus director, in addition to his work as

the sound technician for events at the school and a resident expert

in the Google Docs for Education tools used at Greenwood. Not

only has Mr. Tanner been instrumental in the growth and

enrichment of hundreds of Greenwood students, but he has also

been blessed by the growth of his own family during his years here

at the school, as we were introduced to his three children; Kayten

Rae, Jackson and Caroline (C.C.). What Mr. Tanner is most thankful

for here at Greenwood is that “through every performance and

demonstration I have been able to watch the growth, maturation,

control and discipline that comes with the study of music. I am

daily awed and humbled by these students and proud to be part

of their education."

Ms. Melanie Hall was raised in Texas, but she moved to Florida in

1997. She began her studies as a pre-med major at Florida State

University, but eventually earned her Bachelor’s Degree in

Psychology. Ms. Hall began her teaching career with Duval County

Public Schools and discovered her passion for teaching math. She is

now in her third year of teaching here at Greenwood School and

she is also the co-advisor for the Greenwood Student Council, in

addition to offering valuable math homework help sessions several

mornings a week. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys volunteering

with various organizations in the Jacksonville area, competing with

her trivia team, and cheering on her favorite college- and pro-

football teams, the FSU Seminoles and the Dallas Cowboys.

Greenwood parents/caregivers, will be Tuesday, December 8th at

2:00pm. We hope to see you there!

PLEASE NOTE OUR REVISED MEETING SCHEDULE: In an effort to

accommodate more of our families, we have scheduled alternating

meeting times for the rest of the school year.

January 12, 8:30am

February 9, 2:00pm

March 8, 8:30am

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: We are pleased to have so many volunteers

step up to help with daily lunch distribution, and sending food for monthly

teacher/staff breakfasts. We are still in need of volunteers to help at

sporting events. We need fingerprinted and security-cleared adults to

collect admissions fees for basketball games, and to work in the

concession stand. If you have not had a chance to get fingerprinted,

please do so very soon. Please contact Volunteer Coordinator Mary

Barfield if you are interested in volunteering for any of our many

opportunities. [email protected].

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION: BTFE.COM offers many ways to earn

additional box tops/money for our school. Even if your family doesn’t use

the products currently offering box tops, you can still participate. Please

go to BTFE.com and enter the daily sweepstakes. The BTFE.com site runs

sweepstakes continually. All that’s required for most of these is to login

and submit an entry once a day. Several sweepstakes are open now,

with one requiring a code to be entered from specific GM packages. The

grand prize on this sweepstakes is 1,000,000 ($100,000). This contest ends

12/31/2015. Another way to earn extra box tops is with in-store bonus

offers. Currently Sam’s and Winn Dixie are offering these. The details can

be found on BTFE.com. Priscilla Swanson is our Box Tops Coordinator. If

you have any questions, or want to help, contact Priscilla at

[email protected].

As always, if you have any questions or ideas for YOUR PTO, please

contact President Karen Butler at [email protected].
