New members are welcome. The Greenville Library Board of Trustees has appointed a new assistant director, Cassie Patterson. Mrs. Patterson obtained her MLIS from the University of Rhode Island. She previously worked in the Mansfield Public Library where she was the head of reference and adult services. She was also responsible for programming for teens and adults. She has also worked at the Attleboro Public Library in the reference and circulation departments. Mrs. Patterson is a Rhode Island native. Your BusinessFree training session to help professionals and business owners. Support Visions, an IT solutions company based in Rhode Island, hosts the workshop. Register to learn how to create basic and advanced formulas, and how to share your spreadsheets with others to help improve your busi-ness. Kamil Sarji is a passionate and talented Microsoft and Cisco certified IT professional and has been in the IT field for over 18 years. With a solid background in deliver-ing robust, customized IT solutions and technical support to global organizations, government departments, small and medium sized firms, startups and individuals.

The library will be closed on Wednesday, November 11th in observance of Veterans Day. The library will be closing at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, November 25th and closed on Thursday, November 26th in celebration of Thanksgiving.

MEMORIAL DONATIONSMemorial donations are used to purchase books for the Library with book plates affixed denoting the donor and honoree, or to fund programs. The donor tells us how to best use the gift. Donations are tax deductible. We also accept donations in honor of people for their birthdays, anniversaries, or other celebrations. Sunday, December 6th at 2:00 pm.An Upcoming Holiday Concert

Mark your calendars for Sunday, December 6th at 2:00 pm when the Renaissance V Brass Quintet will be presenting Christmas and holi-day pieces. The group consists instrumentally of two trumpets, tuba, French horn and trom-bone. All members of the quintet are music educators and professional musicians. The music being performed is a variety of many styles from Baroque and Renaissance to Rag-time, Marches and Swing, with everything in between including Contemporary and Sacred. The performance will be held in the Recital Room.

Food for Fines

The library will be collecting non-perishable food items in lieu of fines from Sunday, November 1st to Tuesday, November 10. All food will be donated to the Smithfield Welfare Office.

Our sincere apologies to artist Jane Yacovone, as we inadvertently misspelled her last name in the previous month’s newsletter. Come to the library to see her artistic paintings including this pink chicken.

Members of the Picnic Table Book Club are meeting on Thursday, November 19 at 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm to discuss Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. New mem-bers are welcome.

Friends Holiday Fundraiser“An Afternoon of Fun with Santa”

Saturday, December 12th 1:00pm – 2:30pmJoin us for a delightful afternoon with Santa to help support the Friends of the Library. Light holiday re-freshments will be served. In addition to Santa’s visit, the Friends will be raffling off a variety of baskets on display in the library. Tickets may be purchased from November 16th through December 12th. Winners will be drawn on December 12th at the event. Tickets are available for $1.00 per ticket, $5.00 for 6 tickets, and $10.00 for 12 tickets.

The Heritage Ballet of Lincoln Rhode Island will demonstrate the art of classi-cal ballet through performing an excerpt from The Nutcracker. On Saturday, November 14 from 10:00 – 11:00 am. Children ages 4- 10 will have the opportunity to see and learn about the exer-cises the dancers do to warm up, see costumes and pointe shoes used. Please register by calling or stop by.

The Share – a - Story Book Discussion Group for 4th/5th graders and their caregiver will meet on November 18 at 4:00pm. Please call the children’s room at 949-3630 x2 for more information. Come join in the fun!

Bedtime Storytime

Children ages 3-6 are invited to join us for a special evening story time. Children will hear stories and songs and make a fun craft! Bedtime story time will take place on Wednesday, November 18 at 6:30 pm. Registration, which begins No-vember 1, can be done at the children’s desk or by phone at 949-3630 ext 2. Children may wear their pajamas.

LEGO Club at the Library

If you are crazy about building with LEGOS this is the pro-gram for you! Children ages 5 - 11 are invited to come to the library on Saturday, November 21 from 11:00 – 12:30 pm to build with the library LEGOS! This is a drop in program. No registration is required. See you soon at the library!

After School Art Class

Artist and teacher Adele Karbowski will teach an after school art class on Thursday November 12 at 4:00 pm for children ages 6-10. Registra-tion is required for this creative program!

Bubble Display

Ethan Snyder, age eleven, will show his rock collection in the children’s room bubble. Ethan likes to collect rocks because of their colors, textures and features. Stop in the chil-dren’s room this month to view Ethan’s interesting rock collection.

Every Friday is

@ the Library.There are many board games avail-able or you can bring your favorite game that you would like to play with others. Children ages 4-10 are wel-come. This is a drop in program. No registration is required. Bring a friend or make a new one!

“Greenville Public Library Teenscape”

Baker AfterSchool Center Need a place to go every afternoon that Smithfield schools are in session, the center

will be open. Everyone in grade 6-12 is welcome. The hours are from 2:00-5:30 on Monday-Thursday and 2:00-5:00 on Fridays. It is located in the Baker Room that is on the lower level of the library. There you will find computers, tables to use

for homework or group projects and a librarian to assist you. No sign up is needed!

We are Thankful for Our Teen Volunteers Our Teen Volunteers are working hard to keep the Young Adult section neat and up to date. They also create displays, develop flyers and help out with other special projects. A BIG THANK YOU goes to Amy, Hannah, Kara, Caroline and Will.
