Zencellose ™ cellulose ethers are performance additives in all masonry mortars. They enhance the workability and adhesion strength of mortars used in the construction of brick, block and veneer walls due to their ability to manage and control water move-ment within the mortar, which will extend pot life, improve workability, and help to stabilize air entrainment.
Enhanced water retention allows proper setting of hydraulic binders and leads to stron-ger bonds without excessive use of cement in such brick-laying mortars, which are used to join all kinds of bricks: red clay bricks, concrete blocks and aerated light weight con-crete.

02Base coat render
Drymix plasters and renders are pre-blended dry mortars based on di�erent types of bind-ers, aggregates and functional additives. They are used for interior and exterior applica-tions, applied onto various substrates to give smooth, protective, decorative and partly insulating layers.
These mortars can be hand or machine applied. Machine applied materials require a well-balanced rheology for easy mixing, good pumpability, good wet adhesion, high sag resistance as well as good workability.
Choosing the right render formulation depends on the application and the end-user requirements. Zencellose™ Cellulose Ethers contribute to the proper rheology, smooth application and troweling, and release water at a pace that allows optimal drying, finishing, and setting.

Top/finish/skim coat render
Skim coating is a texturing technique used to make a wall smooth and give the wall a plaster-likeappearance and in situations when only thesmoothest surface will do.
Skim coat formulations can be gypsum, lime, or cement based depending on their intended use.
Zencellose™ is the key to achieving a smoothapplication due to its ability to impart lubricationthat facilitates the smoothing of the trowel ridgesand produces a very flat surface, with no visibleevidence of seams.
Zencellose™ also prevents cracking and chalkingof these thin surfaces by its high water retentionwhich allows hydraulic binders to set properly.

Gypsum board joint compound
Zencellose™ thickeners are used to improve the applicationproperties of joint treatment products, stabilize joint compoundsand improve its workability, rheology, water retention andadhesion properties.
Zencellose™ also controls water loss by evaporation andsubstrate absorption, which guarantees Joint Compoundstability via proper thickening and prevention of syneresis.
Zencellose™ contributes to the shear-thinning rheology of jointcompounds to ensure excellent application properties under thetrowel. Its interaction with the ingredients in the formulationand its water control are the key to a perfect adhesion.
Zencellose™ will allow Joint Compounds to dry evenly,quickly, preventing cracks, and allowing for a quick sanding.

Tile Adhesives
Cementitious Tile Adhesives are cement based formulations used to bond tiles onto various sub-strates. Zencellose™ is one of the key components in both cement and dispersion-based tile adhesives. Zencellose™ is essential to this thin layer installation method as they retain water to ensure the maximum adhesion strength and improve the application and performance proper-ties. Tile adhesive formulations vary to accommodate di�erences in raw materialsand local building practices.
