LWMLs historian and shutterbug, Hazel Maiorka, has been taking

photographs of our activities with a film camera for many years. The

purchase of film and developing is costly, however, and we would love

to switch to a simple little digital camera. Before we spend any moneyon a new camera, we thought we should ask Have you recently up-

graded your technology? Is your old digital camera at home collecting

dust? If so, we have a great new purpose for it! See Bev Russman or

Linda Siegfried if you can help.

A READING FROM THE BOOK OF CONCORDRESURRECTION OF THE LORDLARGE CATECHISM

    PART II, APOSTLES' CREED

In [the Devil's] place has come Jesus Christ, Lord of life, righteousness, every blessing, and salvation. He has deliveredus poor, lost people from hell's jaws, has won us, has made usfree, and has brought us again into the Father's favor andgrace. He has taken us as His own property under His shelterand protection so that He may govern us by His righteousness,

    wisdom, power, life, and blessedness.

The little word Lord means simply the same as redeemer. Itmeans the One who has brought us from Satan to God, fromdeath to life, from sin to righteousness, and who preserves us. Allthe points that follow in this article serve no other purposethan to explain and express this redemption. They explain howand by whom it was accomplished. They explain how much itcost Him and what He spent and risked so that He might win usand bring us under His dominion. It explains that He becameman, was conceived and born without sin, from the Holy Spirit

and from the virgin Mary, so that He might overcome sin. Fur-ther, it explains that He suffered, died, and was buried so that Hemight make satisfaction for me and pay what I owe [1 Cor.15:3-4] with His own precious blood. And He did all this inorder to become my Lord. He did none of these things forHimself, nor did He have any need for redemption. After that Herose again from the dead, swallowed up and devoured death [1Cor. 15:54]. (paragraphs 30-31)

Luther Quote: To be sure, children are brought to Baptism by

the faith and work of others; but when they get there and the pas-

tor or baptizer deals with them in Christs stead, it is He who

blesses them and grants them faith and the kingdom of heaven.

This ministry reaches out through radio and television, has aprogram where Christian films are shown in villages where most of thepopulation is illiterate, offers a Bible correspondence course throughthe mail, and offers counseling services.Tuesday: For Lutheran Christians to be a light to those who are stillsuffering the effects of the devastation that took place under the Aminand Obote presidencies in the 1970s and 80s. Much of the social andeconomic framework of the country was destroyed during these years.Pray that the Lord would continue to provide peace in Uganda, and thatany continuing uncertainty would lead Ugandans to find hope in Christ.Wednesday: For Lutherans to also address the HIV/AIDS problem inUganda with love and mercy, ministering to those who are HIV-

positive in the name of Jesus by caring for them physically and spiritu-ally.
