The Environmentally Preferable Purchasing Act

PCC sections 12400-12404 (Chan 498) defines EPP as “The procurement or acquisition of goods and services that

have a lesser or reduced effect on human health and the environment when

compared with competing goods or services that serve the same purpose.”

State Law Sets Expectations

The EPP Act requires DGS, in consultation with CalEPA, to:

– Promote EPP – Develop and implement a strategy to

increase EPP– Coordinate with other State & Federal

agencies– Develop EPP training programs– Develop an EPP Best Practices Manual
