Green Local School District to Host “Hidden in Plain Sight” FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 30, 2014
For more information contact: Julie McMahan - Director of Communication and Community Relations Green Local Schools 330.896.7512 330.618.3620 cell Green, Oh – Looks can be deceiving. That is the message behind a unique traveling exhibit created by the Bath and Copley Township Police Departments. The display is called Hidden in Plain Sight. The departments constructed what appears to be at first glance the bedroom of the average teenager. But amidst the clutter of clothing scattered on the floor, school supplies on a desk and personal care products on a vanity are more than 150 items that can actually be signals that a young person could be involved in risky, dangerous and even illegal activity. Hidden in Plain Sight will be on display at Green High School on Tuesday, November 18. Doors open for browsing at 6:00 pm with a power point presentation beginning at 6:30 pm. The display and the program will take place in the senior commons. The audience is encouraged to explore and interact with items in the display which may be indicative that a teenager is involved in substance abuse, underage drinking, eating disorders, sexual activity and more. Green Local Schools is partnering with the Bath and Copley Township Police Departments. Deputy Todd Hart, the district’s community resource officer and a member of the Summit County Sheriff Department, will be assisting. The exhibit and program is open to the public. Due to the nature of the material, no children or students will be permitted. There is no charge for Hidden in Plain Sight, although donations will be accepted. Participants will be enlightened, educated and astonished. The Green Local School District is committed to be the best organization for learning, providing education for success.
