Green Earth Concepts - Introduction
Mission Statement:
Green Earth Concepts will develop skills, jobs, and environmental awareness
in the field of organic recycling and agricultural production. The goal of the
company is to relieve hunger and create employment by providing means to
enhance permaculture and organic food production. Incorporating mulch and
compost as a primary carbon credit, the objective is to recycle and reuse
organic refuse in accordance with the National Waste Minimisation Standards.
The intention is to train all South African citizens about the sustainability of
organic food production. Professional horticulturists and agronomists that
develop products and skills development methods to promote job creation and
implement the capacity to successfully train and develop emerging farmers.
The target market is any entity that generates organic refuse. The agricultural
industry as a whole can benefit from the implementation of green waste
recycling for enhanced small holding crop production, and the sequestration
of carbon in accordance with the standards set forth in the United Nations
Framework for Carbon Credits. The primary mission is recycling organic
material for use as soil conditioners that will produce nutritious crops and
enhance food security as a whole.
Gina Shoemaker, Managing Director
Gina has over 25 years of agricultural and horticultural
experience as well as several certifications in lawn and
ornamental landscaping, Organic Gardening and Food
Security, and an International Pesticide Liscence. She
currently serves as a climate reality ambassador for former
U.S Vice President, Al Gore. Relocating from The United
States to South Africa in 2003, Gina’s first project in South
Africa was the development of The Panorama Composting
Plant, which recycled over 10,000 tons of organic waste on a
daily basis and developing a large scale aerobic composting
operation and a client base to match. Since 2003, Gina has
implemented many organic farming schemes and developed
the commercial worm farm operation which generates organic
fertilizer for any size waste generator . Farmers have taken
an interest in the commercial worm farms whilst realizing that
it is less expensive to grow organic crops. The organic waste
solution has been implemented in over 200 successful
operations in South Africa.
