It is with sadness that I announce the departure of Betsy as the Assistant Executive Director for the UnionGrove Chamber. We have been lucky to have her for the last year and a half helping in the office and atmany events. She has been very dedicated and an enormous help to many people. The Greater Union Grove Area Chamber of Commerce is currently accepting applications for the position ofAdministrative Assistant. The job requires the ability to perform clerical duties while working closely with the ChamberExecutive, Chamber membership, other organizations and community visitors. This position requires the knowledge, skilland ability to perform basic computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Candidates must possess goodverbal skills, written and organizational skills, time management skills, positive social skills and be reliable. This is a parttime position which includes 15 regular hours a week and extra hours during special events which may include occasionalnights and weekends. Deadline to apply is October 19. Fortier Jewelers in 1972, Suzanne Garski started in the jewelry and trophy business as a young woman just sixteen yearsold.  She worked for Carl Jacobsen, who owned Jacobsen jewelry.  She served a four year apprenticeship under Carl asa goldsmith and diamond setter.  In 1978, Carl and Suzanne became business partners, and formed Jacobsen & GarskiJewelers.  The Twosome then later expanded and bought out Mortensen's Jewelry in 1981.

After 50 years in business, Carl Jacobsen decided to retire in 1984 and Suzanne Garski became Sole Proprietor.Continuing with tradition, all production is done in her store and she personally provides custom work and design to allof her customers.  Suzanne also is one of the few full service jewelers in the area.

Suzanne married in 1988 and became Suzanne Garski-Fortier.  In 1995, Carl Jacobsen pased away.  On June 15, 1998she entered her 26th year in the jewelry industry.  At that time she changed the name of her store to Fortier Jewelers.Except for the name, everything else stayed the same.
