AMERICAN CAMP ASSOCIATION ACCREDITATION (ACA)

This seal of approval means that our camp has complied with up to 300 health, safety and program quality standards set by the ACA (www.acacamps.org). We have met rigorous guidelines for building program quality as well as camper-staff ratios, and this accreditation assures our camp meets both industry-accepted and government-recognized standards. The bottom line is that this accreditation promises and guarantees you that we care about your children and are committed to creating the best environment possible for them to grow.

REGISTRATION If your child is enrolled in at least one (1) week of camp, they need to have an active membership at the time of registration. Individuals who are new members of the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA, or have previously canceled their membership, can join our YMCA online at https://fspymca.org/membership/join-the-y. Y Membership fees can be found on page 2. Please note: Your membership must remain active until the end of your registered camp weeks to secure your spot. If needed, it is the member’s responsibility to cancel membership following their camp weeks. We require 15 days notice to cancel a membership.

Registration will be held online beginning Monday, November 15 at 9:00am. Please visit fspymca.org/register and click the “Daxko Registration” button. Once there, you will see a tab marked “Summer Camp 2022,” which will enable you to register for camp. We recommend you register early to secure your camper’s schedule as most camps fill quickly. *Please have your FSPY account login and password available at time of registration as you will need to log-in to your account to register.

At the time of registration, a deposit will be due for each session of camp registered. Camp deposits are $50 per camp per 1-week session (each 1/2 day Specialty Camp requires a $50 deposit). Deposits are not required for extended care. Your deposit holds your space in a specific camp week. Deposits are non-refundable after May 1, 2022. Final camp payments/balances are scheduled to be charged to the credit card/EFT provided at the time of registration unless arrangements are made in advance to pay by cash or check. Payments will be due in full and must be scheduled for automatic payment on the dates listed below.

Wait List Policy: If only the wait list for the camp(s) you wish to enroll is available, you do not need an active membership when adding your child’s name to the wait list. You can do this by creating a non-member account on our website, https://fspymca.org/membership/join-the-y and choosing “Non-Member” under “Join the Y Today.” Then, visit fspymca.org/register and click the tab marked “Wait List Summer Camp 2022” to add your child’s name to our camp wait lists. Once your child is taken off the wait list and their enrollment is confirmed, payment of YMCA membership will begin.

CHANGES OR CANCELLATIONS Changes and cancellations must be made 7 days prior to the camp week’s start date. Changes and cancellations can be made on our website: http://fspymca.org/programs/child-care/camp or in person at our Welcome Center. Prior to May 1, 2022: A full refund will be given for any cancellations. After May 1, 2022: A YMCA credit of a camp balance that has been paid (minus the $50 deposit) will only be given if 7 days’ notice is given prior to the start of the camp week. If the Y cancels a camp due to lack of enrollment or facility conflict, a full Y credit or refund is issued. All system credits are good for one year from date processed.

INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

THE BEST STAFF FOR YOUR CAMPER The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA makes taking care of your child our top priority. The best way to do that is to hire the best staff. Many of our camp counselors have grown up with the Y, so they know the program, traditions and values that our camp offers. At the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA, our camp staff attend 20 hours of training and must pass a background check and interview process before joining our team. Training includes CPR, First Aid, bullying and child abuse prevention and bus safety. We are dedicated to helping our campers learn, grow and play all within the pillars of our core values: caring, honesty, responsibility and respect.

CAMP FOR ONE, CAMP FOR ALL

The YMCA believes that every child should have the opportunity to enjoy a summer camp experience. As a nonprofit, the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA offers a financial assistance program that provides help to families who cannot afford the full price of camp. When you register your child for camp this year, please consider making a donation. Our financial assistance does more than send kids to camp. You’ll ensure that another child will have the best summer ever. The Y. So Much More.™ Make a donation online today at fspymca.org/give-today.

OUR MISSIONThe Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA is dedicated to improving the quality of life of the individuals, families and communities we serve through programs and services that build wholeness of spirit, mind & body. The YMCA is a not-for-profit organization founded on Christian principles, serving people of all ages, races, faith, cultures & socio-economic conditions.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCEWe believe in serving the needs of all members of our community including those who may be unable to pay the full cost of membership or programs. Financial assistance requests for camp are due by March 1, 2022. Applications received later will be considered on an as-available basis. The application is available at https://fspymca.org/membership/financial-assistance.

ART CAMP Entering Grades 1-3Your camper’s inner artist will be drawn out during a week of arts and craft fun! Kids can grow so much when they have the opportunity to explore their imagination and creative side. The Y Art Specialty Camp program celebrates creativity, individuality, respect and diversity, and kids are free to learn and create through new artistic experiences. Children will experiment with a variety of artistic mediums like pencil drawing, painting, arts & crafts, messy art and more. Some of the materials we will use may create a mess; so please dress your child in clothes that can get a little messy and provide an oversized T-shirt or smock. Please send snack as we will have a brief snack in between activities.
