GLRPPR Information Sharing Goals

• Resource Coordination and information sharing exchange

• Network with peer organizations• Conference organization• Develop and maintain a roster of members• Enhance and support regional technical resources

History of GLRPPR

• Clearinghouse of hazardous waste and waste minimization information housed at WMRC in the late 1980s

• Roundtable was started in 1990 based on the need for enhanced information sharing across the region

• GLRPPR Organizational Charter drafted in 1994• WMRC became the Executive Director of GLRPPR in 1996• GLRPPR became a member of the Pollution Prevention

Resource Exchange in 1997• GLRPPR has been an active member of the National

Pollution Prevention Roundtable since inception.

GLRPPR Regional Sector Resources

• Currently 79 different P2 subjects with a focus on regional resources and lists of “experts”

• Subcategories-Groups of related resources within a sector resource to make searching easier

• “See Full Record”-View source, date of publication, length, abstract, resource type & associated sectors

• Hard Copy Resources-Information not available online & how to obtain material

• “Experts”-Lists contacts and organizations with knowledge of sector or topic

GLRPPR Contacts Database

• Online Directory with a wide variety of individuals and organizations who who share expertise and a concern for the Great Lakes

• Included in the Database: Assistance Providers, Manufacturing Extension Programs, Vendors, NGO’s, Local, State & Federal Organizations, Universities, etc.

• Search Database by individual and organization name, sector of expertise, or services offered

• Updates to Database can be submitted on-line and organizations may request to be added on-line

• Listservs-Manage 17 listservs including:* five DoD specific lists* seven lists focusing on the Great Lakes region* P2 Tech-National e-mail discussion list focusing

• Help Desk Librarian-One hour free web or literature searching

• Information Products-Including the Mercury Comic Book

• Conferences-Two conferences each year with one held in Chicago (March 5-6, 2003) and the other rotated among the Great Lakes States and Ontario

(Summer 2003 will be held in Erie, PA)
