Welcome to the Bible Catalog Project. There are approximately 5,000 Genealogical Records Collection books that need to be reviewed to see if there are any Bibles that require cataloging.

A book may or may not have any Bible Records. To determine if a book has any Bible Records which require cataloging look at the first page of the book. Below is one example. The DAR Library’s catalog page says this volume contains the Roster of Hope Lodge #124 F. & A.M. This means there are no Bibles included in this volume.

In this case simply click on the green link titled MARK BOOK COMPLETE and go to the next book.

The next book might say something like Miscellaneous Genealogical Records which isn’t very descriptive. In this instance use the 1>> button to click to the Table of Contents page.

The Table of Contents is more descriptive and no Bible Records are in this book. So click on the green Mark Book Complete button.

If the Table of Contents was not very description you can click through the pages of the book to see if there are any Bible records.

This catalog page tells you that there are definitely Bible records in this book. Next use the 1>> button to proceed to the Table of Contents page which may be three or four images forward.

The Table of Contents page (image 5) may be one or more pages in length. In this case it is only one page. It says the Bible of William P. Burgess and Elizabeth J. Green starts on page 1 and ends on page 19.

Next use the >>1 button to find page 1.

When the first page of the Bible entry is located, on a scrap sheet of paper write the names of the first people in the Bible:

William P. Burgess

Elizabeth J. Green

Note the image number which can be found at the bottom of the page. (image 6) This will be important later.

Next find birth and/or death dates or a marriage date. Start flipping through the images.

On image 12 death dates can be found for William and Elizabeth so write on the scratch paper:

William P. Burgess -1877

Elizabeth J. Green -1897

Next look to see if birth dates can be found.

On image 14 the birth dates are found. So add the dates to the scratch paper.

Now it’s time to add the Bible Catalog entry. The entry is to be added on the first page referring to the Bible (image 6). So go to the bottom of image page 14 and click on the down arrow next to where it says Image 14, scroll to image 6 and click the GO button.

This will take you back to image page 6.

Click on the BIB button.

The Bible Catalog entry screen will pop-up.

Enter the last name of the MALE in the surname field.

In the Bible Title field enter the male’s complete name followed by birth/death dates in parenthesis using a hyphen and no spaces. Next type the words “and wife.” Remember to include a comma after the

word wife. Enter the wife’s name followed by her dates.

Once you have entered the information click on the SUBMIT button.

Notice there are examples included in the pop-up for situations such as more than one wife or only birth, only death dates or only a marriage date.

Please follow the examples exactly.

Only enter one catalog entry per Bible.

Each Bible Catalog entry will count as 1 credit towards the Book Worm pin.
