The Diploma programs offered by the Extension Courses in English are designed for teachers, employed persons, and those seeking employment. These courses are conducted during weekends.

DIPLOMA IN ADVANCED ENGLISH FOR ADMINISTRATION AND ACADEMIC PURPOSES (DAE)

PROGRAMMES

EXTENSION COURSES

IN ENGLISH 

Suitable for those who want to develop their language skills for professional purposes

DIPLOMA IN ENGLISH FOR TEACHERS OF ENGLISH (DETE)

Suitable for Teachers of English language and literature attached to any school or educational institute in Sri Lanka

DIPLOMA IN ENGLISH FOR ENGLISH MEDIUM INSTRUCTION TEACHERS (DEEMIT)

Suitable for Teachers who are English Medium instructors or Teachers who hope to teach in the English Medium in Sri Lankan schools

1. Persons with 3 passes at the GCE A/L Examination before year 2000, or 2 passes in the year 2000 and thereafter

2. Required score at the Selection Test

DURATIONELIGIBILITY All Diploma programs offered by the Extension Courses in English comprise two years of study with 160 contact hours each year. Each year consists of 40 teaching sessions. Each session is of 4 hours duration. 

CLASS DATES & TIMESClasses will be held on weekends only. Applicants may select one of the following sessions:

DETE & DEEMIT 

A full scholarship will be awarded to 05 Permanent University Employees of the University of Colombo based on performance at the Selection Test

* Payment once made cannot be refunded. However, postponement of registration is possible within the first month of commencement of classes.

DAE 1. Saturday (Morning Session)     8:00 am   -   12:15 pm     OR 2. Saturday (Evening Session)     1:00 pm   -    5.15 pm

DETE & DEEMIT      Sunday (Morning Session)      8.00 am    -    12.15 pm

1. A letter from the Principal or Head of the school or institution, written on an official letterhead, with the seal of the principal stating years of teaching experience and intention to join the Diploma program of the Extension Courses in English (See website for sample letter)
