Hong Jun GaoProfessor and Deputy-Director of the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, ChinaHe is the Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Academician of the Developing Country Academy of Scienc-es. His research interests are in surface/interface structure and physical properties with scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy (STM/STS) including molecules at solid surfaces at a single molecular level, and nano-materials and nano-electronic devices. He has 6 international books/chapters and about 200 journal publications including 6 international invited review articles and 17 PRL, 7 JACS, and 10 Adv. Mater., papers.

Andrea C. FerrariProfessor of Nanotechnology and Director at the Cambridge Graphene Centre, UKFerrari is the Director of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Graphene Technology. He is the Science and Technology Officer and Chair of the Management Panel of the European Graphene Flagship. He is Fellow of Pembroke College, Fel-low of the American Physical Society, Fellow of the Institute of Physics, Fellow of the Materials Research Society, Fellow of the Optical Society. His research interests cover photonics, optoelec-tronics, flexible and printed electronics based on graphene and related materials.

Konstantin NovoselovNobel Laureate and Director at the National Graphene Institute at The University of Manchester, UKNovoselov is best known for isolating graphene at The University of Manchester and being awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 2010. His expertise lies within condensed matter physics, mesoscopic physics and nanotechnology. Konstantin Novoselov holds positions of Langworthy Professor of Physics and the Royal Society Research Professor at The University of Manchester.

Jose Antonio GarridoICREA Research Professor at the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2), SpainGarrido is also the head of the Advanced Electronic Materials and Devices group, which explores novel electronic materials, such as graphene and other 2D materials, and their poten-tial in electronic and bioelectronic applications. He received a master and PhD degree in Telecommunication Engineering from the Technical University of Madrid, worked as a pos-doc at the Walter Schottky Institute, Technische Universität München, and became Group Leader of the Functional Carbon Materials group. He obtained his habilitation in experimental physics at the TU Munich. Garrido held a lecturer position at the department of physics of the Technische Universität München.

Rudolf BratschitschProfessor at the University of Münster, GermanyRudolf Bratschitsch received his PhD from the Vienna University of Technology, Austria for his work on time-resolved THz spec-troscopy of semiconductor nanostructures. During his postdoc at JILA (University of Colorado and NIST) in Boulder, USA he worked on ultrafast spintronics. Rudolf Bratschitsch was a junior group leader at the University of Konstanz, Germany, entering the field of ultrafast solid-state quantum optics. After his habilitation in experimental physics he became full professor at Chemnitz University of Technology, Germany in 2010. During that time he started working on 2D materials. Since 2013 he is full pro-fessor at the University of Münster, Germany.

Jong-Hyun AhnUnderwoord distinguished professor at Yonsei University, South KoreaHe has worked as a director of the Center for strain engineered electronic devices, supported by National Research Founda-tion of Korea. His research includes fundamental and applied aspects of nanomaterials and fabrication for flexible and stretchable electronic devices, and recent interest focuses on graphene and 2D material based wearable electronics with an emphasis on bio-applications. Jong-Hyun Ahn has authored more than 160 papers, and is an inventor of more than 60 patents and has received numerous scientific awards, including the National Young Scientist Award and the IEEE George Smith Award.

Camilla ColettiTenure Track Researcher at Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, ItalyCamilla Coletti received her PhD degree in electrical engineer-ing from the University of South Florida in 2007. After working at the Max Planck Institute of Stuttgart as an Alexander von Humboldt postdoctoral fellow from 2008 to 2011, she joined the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia in Pisa. There she set-up and developed a laboratory for the synthesis and the characteriza-tion of graphene and other 2D materials. Since April 2016 she is Tenure Track Researcher, leading the research line 2D Materials Engineering. Her research is currently focused on: (i) the scalable synthesis of 2D materials for optoelectronic applications; (ii) inter-face engineering of 2D heterostacks.

SPEAKERSJonathan ColemanProfessor of Chemical Physics in the School of Physics and the CRANN and AMBER Research centres at Trinity College Dublin, IrelandHis research involves liquid exfoliation of layered compounds such as graphene, boron nitride and molybdenum disulphide. ournals including Nature and Science, has a h-index of 72 and has been cited ~30000 times. He was recently listed by Thom-son Reuters among the world’s top 100 materials scientists of the last decade and was named as the Science Foundation Ireland researcher of the Year in 2011. Prof Coleman has been involved in a number of industry-academic collaborative projects with companies including Hewlett-Packard, Intel, SAB Miller, Nokia-Bell Labs and Thomas Swan.

Aldo Di CarloFull Professor of Optoelectronics and Nanoelectronics at the Uni-versity of Rome “Tor Vergata”, ItalySince 2006 he is co-director of the Centre for Hybrid and Organic Solar Energy (CHOSE) which involves more than 30 researchers for the development and industrialization of the organic and hybrid organic/inorganic photovoltaic technologies. Di Carlo is author/coauthor of more than 350 scientific publications on international journals, 13 patents and several book chapters.

Ian KinlochProfessor of Materials Science at The University of Manchester, UKIan Kinloch holds an EPSRC Challenging Engineering Fellowship and has previously held an EPSRC/RAEng Research Fellowship. He moved to Manchester in 2006, having previously worked as a PDRA and studied for his PhD in Materials Science at the University of Cambridge and getting my BSc(Hons) in Physics at the University of Durham.

Yuhei HayamizuAssociate Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, JapanHe received his phD degree in physics from the University of Tokyo in 2005. Then, he joined the Nanotube Research Center in the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology Japan (AIST) as a post-doctoral researcher. In 2009, he moved to Genetically Engineered Materials Science and Engineering Center (GEMSEC) at the University of Wash-ington to study solid binding peptides. He has been in a current position since 2012.

Rainer HillenbrandIkerbasque Research Professor and Nanooptics Group Leader at the nanoscience research center CIC nanoGUNE, SpainHe is also co-founder of the company Neaspec GmbH (Martinsried, Germany), which develops and manufactures near-field optical microscopes. Hillenbrand’s research activi-ties include the development of optical near-field nanoscopy and infrared nanospectroscopy, and its applications in nan-ophotonics, graphene plasmonics and materials sciences, for which he received the Ludwig-Genzel-Price in 2014.

Gerasimos KonstantatosICREA research Professor at the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO), SpainGerasimos Konstantatos received his Ph.D in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto in 2008 and since 2009 he has been a group leader at the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO) in Barcelona Spain. Since 2015 he has been an ICREA research Professor. He is the recipient of MIT TR35 Spain Award 2012 and the Fresnel Prize 2013 for his salient contributions in the field of colloidal quantum dot optoelec-tronics. In 2016 he was awarded an ERC consolidator grant. He is the author of more than 55 publications with more than 7500 cita-tions to date.

Kostas KostarelosProfessor at The University of Manchester, UKKostas read Chemistry at the University of Leeds and obtained his Diploma in Chemical Engineering and PhD from the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London. Following his promotion to Assistant Professor of Genetic Medicine and Chemical Engineering in Medicine at Cornell University Weill Medical College, he relocated to the UK as the Deputy Director of Imperial College Genetic Therapies Centre in 2002. In 2003 Kostas joined the Centre for Drug Delivery Research and the De-partment of Pharmaceutics at the UCL School of Pharmacy as the Deputy Head of the Centre. He was promoted to the Personal Chair of Nanomedicine and Head of the Centre in 2007. Kostas joined the University of Manchester in 2013 and is an Honorary Professor of University College London.

Max LemmeManaging Director at AMO GmbH, GermanyThe electrical engineer Prof. Max Lemme has been working for several years on graphene and related two-dimensional materi-als and their applications in the fields of electronics, photonics and sensors. In addition Prof. Lemme has a strong track-re-cord on classic CMOS technology and was particularly active in the integration of high-k dielectrics into silicon transistors and in the development of Fin-FET transistors. Besides his posi-tion as Managing Director of AMO GmbH, Prof. Lemme has a new established chair at RWTH Aachen University focusing on nanotech-nology, which is collaborating closely with AMO GmbH.

Marco MolinaChief Technical Officer of the Space line of Business in the Air-borne and Space System Division at Leonardo S.p.a., ItalyMarco Molina - Has a Master Degree in Aeronautical Engineering and a PhD in Aersopace Engineering at Politecnico di Milano. He is lecturer at Politecnico di Milano on Space vehicles thermal control since 1998. Working in the space sector since 20 years, he has worked on more than 10 instruments and satellites now in orbit, including the largest payload on the ISS: AMS-02. He is currently Chief Technical Officer of the Space line of Business in the Airborne and Space System Division at Leonardo Spa, the largest aerospace Italian company.

Thomas MüllerProfessor at the University of Twente, NetherlandsThomas Mueller received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from TU Vienna in 2001 and 2004, respectively. In 2007 he joined the IBM Watson Research Center, USA, as a Postdoc, working on carbon-based optoelectronics. At the end of 2009 he returned to TU Vienna, where he currently holds an Associate Professor position. His research focuses on electronic and optoelectronic devices based on two-dimensional materials. He (co-)authored more than 70 peer-reviewed publi-cations in leading scientific journals. Selected awards include the START-Prize, the Fritz Kohlrausch-Prize, and the ASciNA Award.

Marcos A. PimentoProfessor at the Department of Physics of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), BrazilPimenta is also coordinator of the Raman Laboratory. His re-search areas are carbon nanotubes, graphene, perovskites, 2D and other materials using Raman spectroscopy. He was awarded by the TWAS (The World Academy of Science) Prize in Physics in 2013. He is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and of the TWAS. He is currently director of the Brazil-ian Institute for Science and Technology (INCT) in Carbon Nanoma-terials and of the Center of Technology in Nanomaterials (CTNano, UFMG).

Maurizio PratoProfessor at the University of Trieste, ItalyMaurizio Prato graduated in Padova, where he was appointed Assistant Professor in 1983. He moved to Trieste in 1992 as an Associate Professor to become Full Professor in 2000. From 2015, he is also Ikerbasque Research Professor at CIC Bio-maGUNE, Spain. He spent sabbatical terms at Yale University with Sam Danishefsky (1986-7) and at the University of Cali-fornia, Santa Barbara with Fred Wudl (1991-2). He was Visiting Professor at the École Normale Supérieure de Paris (2001), at the University of Namur, Belgium (2010) and the University of Stras-bourg (2014). He was the recipient of an ERC Advanced Research Grant, European Research Council, in 2008 and became a Member of the National Academy of Sciences (Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei) in 2010.

Rahul Raveendran-NairProfessor of Materials Physics at the National Graphene Institute and School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Sci-ence at the University of Manchester, UKRahul R. Nair also holds a prestigious Royal Society Fellowship. The main scope of his research is the novel synthesis and construction of application-oriented devices based on two-di-mensional (2D) crystals and their modifications. He has pub-lished over 45 highly cited peer-refereed research articles and six Nature Communications during the last ten years. His awards include a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship from the Leverhulme Trust, IUPAP Young Scientist Award (2014) from the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics and the Moseley Medal and Prize (2015) from the Institute of Physics.

Marco RomagnoliHead of Advanced Technologies for Photonic Integration at CNIT, ItalyRomagnoli has over 35 years of experience in the area of pho-tonic technologies for TLC, working for the IBM Research Cen-tre, the Fondazione Ugo Bordoni, Pirelli R&D Photonics and in PhotonIC Corp. Presently he is involved in the realization of graphene photonics devices and integrated circuits for optical communications and in the development of graphene integration in SOI and SiN wafer scale platforms.

Gemma Vall-LloseraSenior specialist and program manager for the Ericsson Hardware photonics program, SwedenDr. Gemma Vall-llosera received the Diploma in Optics from the Politechnics University of Catalonia (UPC) in 1998 and the Dr. degree in Physics from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden. In 2008 she joined the Electrical and Information Technology group at Lund University, Sweden where she worked with error fingerprinting of xDSL networks. In 2010 she joined Ericsson Research where she has been conducting research in op-tical networks. She is also a board member of the PhotonicSweden organization.

Heejun YangAssistant professor in the Department of Energy Science, SKKU, Suwon, South KoreaYang is an expert in nanometer-scale solid state physics. Based on his former experiences in industrial (Samsung electronics) and academic places, his expertise ranges from atomic mi-croscopy (scanning tunneling microscopy) to electronic devic-es with various two-dimensional materials. For the last three years, he has actively developed high-quality single-crystalline layered materials such as graphene and transition metal dichalco-genides (TMDs) and conducted fundamental studies on electronic and catalytic characteristics of the materials.

Kim Sang OukChair Professor in the Department of Materials Science & Engineering at KAIST, South KoreaSang Ouk Kim is the directors of National Creative Research Ini-tiative Center for Multi-Dimensional Directed Nanoscale Assem-bly and Graphene Fiber Research Center. Prof. Kim obtained his Ph.D at KAIST in 2000 and opened his research group from 2004. Prof. Kim has published more than 200 journal papers and delivered more than 300 invited presentations. He is the recipient of prestigious Presidential Young Scientist Award and KAIST Academic Grand Prize. Prof. Kim is serving as editorial board members for more than 10 scientific journals.

Harold ZandvlietProfessor at the University of Twente, NetherlandsHarold Zandvliet (1963) obtained a PhD in applied physics from the University of Twente in 1990. Subsequently, he worked at Philips Research Laboratories in Eindhoven. Since 2005 he is a professor at the University of Twente. His current research activities include the study of nanowires, two-dimensional materials and single molecules.
