To this end, CMSS educates and empowers resettling Chaldean and Middle-Eastern refugees by providing them with the primary healthcare and social service tools and programs necessary for comprehensive well-being and success in their new homeland. Founded in August, 2005, CMSS currently serves more than 21,000 refugees each year through its seamless continuum of primary medical care and social service assistance in El Cajon. Intern Responsibilities: As a community-based nonprofit organization located in El Cajon, CA, CMSS depends upon the dedicated support of energetic interns and volunteers to fulfill its mission. CMSS continues to rapidly expand its programs and operations, and is currently seeking a Grant-Writing Intern to join its dynamic team. The Intern will: Research philanthropic foundations and giving networks to identify prospective grant and funding opportunities Collaborate with CMSS’ grant writer to research, write and submit appropriate, achievable grant proposals to foundations and corporate entities Perform secondary academic research to enhance CMSS’ evidence-based Manage CMSS’ grant database (Hosted via Google Drive) Contribute to CMSS’ e-newsletter Requirements: Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills, with significant attention to detail Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously in a dynamic environment Self-starting initiative; ability to work independently and in a team setting Strong computer skills (MS Office, Google Drive, Internet-based research) Experience working with refugee populations or in the development field a plus Time Commitment: 10-15 hours/week, flexible schedule Compensation: This is an unpaid internship, however you will gain hands-on experience working with a dynamic team in a rapidly growing non-profit. CMSS will openly support you with letters of recommendation, skills training and securing academic internship credit, where applicable.
