Keeping the beat - OPP Constable Keith Robb is part of The Commissioner’s Own Pipes and Drums, which performed in Grand Valley on July 2.

Sesquicentennial? - Grand Valley celebrated 150 years on the July 1 weekend, but many floats also remembered the founding of Canada.

Air conditioning needed - In the old days, it was very hot in school in summer, and Saturday’s parade had this student wishing for something cool.

In fashion, then - These young ladies appear to be oblivious to the strong sun. The Grand Valley Sesquicentennial parade had great sunny, but hot weather.

Tough sledding - (Left) Women’s work was seldom done in pioneer days, as the clothes line and the old washing machine depict. Here, mom takes a well earned break.
