The United States is experiencing joblessness at levels on par

with those of the Great Depression. The private sector has seen

massive contractions in both jobs and revenues, yet our public

"Let me now take a more comprehensive view, and warn you in the

most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the spirit of

party, generally.

In those [governments] of the popular form, it [party] is seen in its

greatest rankness, and is truly their worst enemy.

The alternate domination of one faction over another, is itself a

frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. Sooner or later the chief of some prevailing

faction, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation,

on the ruins of Public Liberty.

It [party] serves always to distract the Public Councils, and enfeeble

the Public Administration. It agitates the Community with ill

founded jealousies and false alarms; kindles the animosity of one

part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection. It

opens the door to foreign influence and corruption, which find a

facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passions. Thus the policy and the will of one country are

subjected to the policy and will of another ." || Excerpt From George Washington's Farewell Address September 17th, 1796 ||

Social Security Is NOT At Risk On Debt CeilingBy: Karl Denninger @ market ticker.org

To the peanut gallery that don't 'get it': There is no risk of Social

Security and Medicare checks not going out if the debt ceiling is not

raised for the next three years. Got it? Zero. How? Here's how:

That total debt number is the amount subject to the limit, moreor less. But the 'Intragovernmental Holdings' is the amount that the

Social Security and Medicare trust funds are 'owed' by the general

fund. The Treasury can redeem those by selling new bonds into the

market in a 1:1 ratio and if they do so they now have dollars in an

exactly equal amount. That's $4.6 trillion dollars.

How much is Social Security and Medicare every year? That's

easy—we can look at the Trustee report, which says that in 2010 the

total expenditures were $1.235 trillion. Note that these funds also

receive tax monies and in 2010 they took in $1.267 trillion.

Wait a second... they took in more than they spent? Indeed,

which means that the only reason the Treasury has a problem in the

present tense is that they have been stealing the tax revenues and

replacing them with yet more IOU's (Note that due to the boomersretiring and medicare cost advances, which are relentless, both of

these funds are bankrupt in the intermediate term. We're talking about

whether the money exists to pay benefits here and now, not in the

future).

But since those IOU's are counted in the total debt outstanding,

there is no reason whatsoever to state that Social Security 'might' or

'would' not be paid, other than as an intentional act of screwing Senior

Citizens by Treasury and President Obama, for which they would both

be personally responsible.

Let's make sure you understand this:

THERE IS NO SHORTAGE OF FUNDS TO PAY SOCIAL SECURITY

AND MEDICARE UNDER THE EXISTING DEBT CEILING. IN FACT,TREASURY COULD PAY THOSE BENEFITS EVEN IF THERE WAS ZERO

TAX COLLECTED FROM ANYONE IN THIS COUNTRY FOR SOCIAL

SECURITY AND MEDICARE SUCH AS IF UNEMPLOYMENT WAS 100%

FOR A PERIOD OF MORE THAN THREE YEARS, AND NOT VIOLATE THE

DEBT CEILING.

President Obama and Tim Geithner are lying and their own

data, from their own web sites and the Trustees proves it beyond a

shadow of a doubt. Do not allow the fraudmasters of Washington DC

to run their 'tanks in the streets' lie once again. This is simple: Raise

the debt ceiling by as little as one dollar; lose your job.

Letter To The Editor: An AnonymousContribution

Grand County is a small community with a diverse group of people and

opinions. Because of that, it is sometimes difficult to speak out without fear of

reprisal from the community at large. I've spoken to numerous people from

representatives to business owners to regular citizens who would like to

contribute their voices, but will not do so with their identity attached. To that

end, I allow anonymous contributions as long as I know who you are or you have very good information—Reggie

By: Publius

Just listening to the news on the radio. Again, the news was on

the need to solve the debt ceiling problem. This is my solution:

1. Freeze all Government hiring effective immediately. Do it until

Government spending is reduced to 2000 levels which was good

enough for Clinton.

2. Shut down government when ceiling reached. Do not pay

any Government workers for days they are shut down. If we stayshut down until beginning of next fiscal year starting on Oct 1st,

We immediately will cut 2 1/2 months of spending out of the

budget. This is equivalent about 21% of yearly spending.

During shutdown, there will still be spending on the following:

Paying our soldiers, paying Post office, paying Social Security as

that is supposed to come out of it's own funds anyway; same

with Medicare. I am sure there are some other examples of

services that can continue during that period.

3. Send Obama a bill for all Town Halls and other trips that he

has made since taking office that were not directly related to

running the executive branch. He has essentially been

campaigning since day one and it should come out of hiscampaign funds. The invoice should be comprehensive to pay

for all costs incurred at govt. expense.

4. Fire all Czars in the White house. Who authorized them

anyway? The president has a cabinet to do their duties. Anyone

else is subordinate to cabinet members.
