Graduate School Overview
● Admissions policy
1. We are seeking enthusiastic students who wish to deepen the fundamental and specialized
knowledge and basic research skills they acquired in science and engineering in an undergraduate
(bachelor's degree) program by applying such knowledge and skills to research topics related to
"mechanical and control engineering," "electrical and electronics engineering," "information
science," "materials science," or "organic and biochemistry."
2. We are seeking enthusiastic students who have the ability to plan and carry out fundamental projects
for research in the master's program, as well as logical thinking skills, problem-solving skills,
communication skills, and engineering ethics, and the desire to further improve in those areas.
3. We are seeking students who wish to contribute to society by practically applying the advanced
knowledge and skills they will acquire in the master's program.
● Objective of human resource development and policy on education and
research
The main objective of the Graduate School of Engineering is to cultivate knowledge from a broad
perspective (one that includes the fields of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, information
science, and applied chemistry) while engaging in original research projects and developing abilities to
perform and apply research that harmoniously blends science and engineering.
The aim is also to master science and engineering theories, acquire application skills, and, with an eye
toward a diversifying future, nurture the ability to solve various types of problems by returning to the
basics, all while incorporating engineering from a broad-based, interdisciplinary viewpoint that respects
traditional academic and specialization categories without rigidly adhering to them.
[Objective of graduate school]
The objective of the master's program is to enable students to engage in research and education from a
perspective that cuts across the fields of science and engineering, based on conditions where each field of
science and engineering (science and technology) is moving forward in a mutually interrelated fashion.
Students also acquire research skills and knowledge necessary in work requiring diverse specialization, as
well as ethics and common sense required of engineers and researchers. The program develops human
resources with individuality and the ability to demonstrate creativity in a given field, thereby contributing
to the development of science and technology.
The doctoral program provides students with research skills, as well as a wealth of fundamental
knowledge, necessary to perform advanced, professional work. The objective is to develop human
resources who can excel as professionals in technology development and research at a world-class level
and contribute to the advancement of science and technology.
[Objective of department]
The objective of the Department of Engineering is to complementarily harmonize and blend science and
engineering, integrate the fields of mechanical and control engineering, electrical and electronics
engineering, information science, materials science, and organic and biochemistry, and, with a broad
perspective that includes the specialized fields of mechanical/controls, electrical/electronics, information,
and materials, explore increasingly complex and diverse science and technology challenges from an
engineering perspective, while developing human resources capable of tackling the needs of the times
with original ideas.
