Howley, Ph.D., FACSM Professor Emeritus Department of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport Studies College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences University of Tennessee Knoxville, TN [email protected] Dr. Edward Howley received his B.S. degree from Manhattan College and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from The University of Wisconsin-Madison. He then completed a one-year post-doctoral appointment at Penn State University and was hired in 1970 as a faculty member at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville (UTK). Dr. Howley taught classes in exercise physiology and in fitness testing and prescription and has co-authored textbooks in both areas. Dr. Howley retired in 2007 and holds the rank of Professor Emeritus at UTK. Dr. Howley has served as a member of the Science Board of the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. In addition, in 2007-2008 he served on the Physical Activity Guidelines Advisory Committee that evaluated the science related to physical activity and health and generated a report for use by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to write the 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans. Most of Dr. Howley’s volunteer efforts have been with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). He was actively involved in the development of certification programs and served as President in 2002-03. He served as Editor-in-Chief of ACSM’s Health & Fitness Journal and as Chair of the Program Planning Committee for the annual ACSM Health & Fitness Summit meeting. In 2007, Dr. Howley was recognized for his contributions with the ACSM Citation Award. Dr. Howley also likes to golf, ride his bike, travel, and play with his grandchildren.

Dr. Brittany Overstreet is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Applied Physiology at the University of Delaware. Dr. Overstreet earned her Ph.D. in Kinesiology at the University of Tennessee where her research focused on altering the exercise experience to enhance outcomes related to future exercise behavior. At the University of Delaware, she coordinates the Clinical Exercise Physiology Graduate Program, as well as the Community Exercise Counseling program at STAR Health. Additionally, she serves on the University of Delaware’s Faculty Senate Committee on Committees and Nominations and is the faculty advisor of the Kinesiology Graduate Student Organization. Brittany has been a member of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) since 2010 and has served on regional (student representative for SEACSM) and national (Student Affairs Committee) committees for ACSM. Dr. Overstreet is also an active member of the Clinical Exercise Physiology Association (CEPA), serving on the organization’s Legislative Committee.

Dr. Yuri Feito is an Associate Professor of Exercise Science at Kennesaw State University and a member of the graduate faculty at Kansas State University in the Department of Kinesiology. He has been involved in the medical fitness industry for over 15 years working with a variety of clinical population. Dr. Feito obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in Exercise Physiology, and has master degrees in Movement Science and Public Health. Both master degrees have provided experiences in clinical physiology and community health. He is a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and is certified as a Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist (RCEP) and Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP). As a clinician, he has a level III Exercise is Medicine® credential and a Clinical Exercise Physiologist National Provider Identification Number. His current research interests include adaptations to high-intensity functional training, as well as the study of injuries within this training modality. In addition, he has studied the use of objective measures to promote and measure physical activity among individuals of all ages.

Jessica Berglund is a Physical Therapist at Live Your Life Physical Therapy, a mobile medical wellness practice providing rehabilitative, preventative, wellness, fitness and health services to individuals and groups in their home or community. She practices with an inter-professional team of physical therapists (PTs), occupational therapists (OTs), speech-language pathologists (SLPs), as well as personal trainers, acupuncturists, massage therapists, a dietician, and a health coach. Jessica attended St. Catherine University in St. Paul, MN where she received a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science as well as her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. She is actively involved in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) where she educates and advocates for prevention, health promotion and wellness services in physical therapists' practice. She is also actively involved in the American College of Sports Medicine (ASCM), serving as President-Elect of the Northland Regional Chapter where she promotes the relationship between health care and health through collaboration with exercise, sports medicine, and fitness professionals.
