SPN Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service Monday, January 21, 2019

Hello parents,

On behalf of the SPN Home and School, we are excited to announce that Saint Philip Neri will

host a 2019 Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service for our students. The day of service is

designed to promote diversity, civic engagement, community volunteering, civic responsibility,

and an understanding of Dr. King’s legacy.

The event will be open to students in 1st through 8th grade on a volunteer basis. Students who

participate will engage in volunteer opportunities in our local community as well as activities at

SPN. Sign-ups will begin in the next few weeks and will close in early December. This timeline

will give the committee ample time to ensure we have adequate volunteer activities for all

participants. Further event details and a timeline will also come in the following weeks.

To make the event a success, we will need a significant amount of parent volunteers to assist.

Also, if you know of or work for an agency that could benefit from a service activity, please feel

free to be in touch with one of our committee co-chairs or members.

We are committed to providing students with an event that will allow them to live the mission

statement of SPN: “respect for self and others, service to our community, and personal

responsibility, helps our students grow as individuals, become productive citizens in a global

society, and live the Catholic faith.”

With gratitude,

Amy Demeter & Maria DiBenedetto, Event Co-Chairs

Stop selling and start earning! Scrip fundraising is a no-selling program that allows families to raise money for their non-profit organizaon (NPO). Scrip is just another way to pay for everyday purchases using gi cards in place of cash, checks, and credit cards.

You purchase gi cards from your organizaon at face value, and your coordinator orders those cards from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a reduced price. The difference is an instant rebate for your organizaon. It’s really that simple!

When you use scrip gi cards at your favorite retailers, you’re fundraising while you shop. Great Lakes Scrip Center offers more than 700 of the country’s biggest retailers, including grocery, department stores, gas staons, restaurants, hotels, home improvement, and more. Just by using scrip to pay for your normal weekly purchases, you can easily raise $500 or more per year. It’s me to put your shopping dollars to work!
