GRADE 1 LANGUAGE ARTS The Language Arts curriculum is based on the total language programme. Grammar is taught through the situational and communicative approach. Grammatical concepts will be derived from prose and poetry comprehension. Grammar will be integrated with reading and written work. However a systematic order in teaching grammatical concepts is maintained throughout the year. Random Assessment will be conducted of every unit in each volume. These written

assessments will focus on the student’s knowledge of the concepts and his/her application of

the same. Students will be assessed on reading, writing, recitation and speaking skills, too.

Marks will be assigned for the timely submission of Homework, duly completed. Term 2 Aggregate: 150 marks.
