The next corporal work is to visit the prisoner. People in prison

are people just like us; they are created in the image and

likeness of God. They may not have had good role model or a

religious upbringing but they still are entitled to hear the word

of God. Prison ministry in our diocese is connected to each

county prison. There are chaplains for each facility and a group

of volunteers who work with them.

We can support the ministry by volunteering to be part of the

ministry group and actively be involved in the ministry. We can

support the ministry by prayer or collecting things that the

ministry might need for example; bibles, rosaries and prayer

books. You can donate to these specific groups and at Christmas

time or on other occasions collect gifts for the inmates or gifts

for them to give to their children. If we know someone that is

incarcerated we might make a visit to the facility to let them

know that they are thought of or send a card or note. These are

all ways that we can assist those who

are imprisoned.

God Bless, Fr. Rich
