Grade Center Overview

The Grade Center is the area in Blackboard to view and grade student’s assessments. The Grade Center should align with the course outline and schedule found in the Syllabus section. Interactive content areas such as Discussion Board, Blogs and Wikis, if set as gradable, are graded from their content area, and will display graded in the Grade Center column(s). The instructor should manage the Grade Center to reflect grading throughout the course.

a. Green Exclamation Point – view grade detailsi. Grade one student at a time

ii. Grade papers – Assignment file download – read papers from the computer

1. Read/Review documents – leave comments2. Save changes in pdf

iii. Attach commented papers back in the View Attempt screen iv. Feedback to Students – viewed by studentsv. Instructor Notes – notes to self

b. Interactive mode – grade directly in the cell, press enter to next cellc. Tests already are graded by Bb, points will show in column, essay

questions in a test are graded by viewing grade details and view attempt of the test

G. Grading Discussion Board, Wiki, and Blogs must be graded in their content areas

a. Demonstrate grading a Discussion Board Forum

H. Working Offline (grade at your leisure)a. Download grade column or bookb. Enter Grades in the “Needs Grading” cellsc. Upload back to the grade center

I. Using Weighted Grade Column or Total Column but not both, as grade indicator for the course

a. Demonstrate Weighted Gradesb. Select from Columns vs Select from Categories

i. Since the Discussion Boards count as 10% and there are 2 DBs, make sure you select Discussion from Categories to Select, all other graded material can be pulled over from the Columns to Select

J. Grade Center Reportsa. Create a Report – Reports reflect data from the entire course or single

userb. View Grade History – Tool to track all changes to grades within the

Grade Centeri. History Displays – From data information , comment history

ii. View history periods (from the last day- 6 months, to all history)
